Historia
The ninth floor. Nine armies, each led by rich and powerful aliens from across the galaxy. Each team has one objective: to capture and hold the castle at the very center of the battlefield. Strategy, alliances, pitched battles, and, of course, betrayal ... It all makes for great fun and even greater television. After all, none of these powerful aliens really die when they’re playing war. Except this time. This time, winner takes all. Those who fall, stay in the ground.

Revisado: 02-03-25
A bit of a departure from the first two in the series. Somewhat of a long and winding road, but I’m glad I listened to it all in the end.

I had ignored the suggestion from audible that I might like this for over a year before finally running out of other things on my reading (Listening?) list. I am so glad I finally took the plunge - utterly fantastic and thought provoking. I’ve already bought the remaining two in the series and will be digging in as soon as I finish typing this review - they are that good.
Don’t hesitate - just give it a try.

Decent enough but some issues
Revisado: 09-10-24
Whilst it is advertised as narrated by a virtual voice it reads as if written by AI - loads of really odd grammatical errors like word repetitions and glitchy sentences. Quite hard to listen to but an enjoyable story nonetheless. If RC Bray had narrated this and the grammar was sorted it would have been a solid 5 stars.

Historia
As foul daemonic hordes swarm into the sub-sector, the Space Marines of the Iron Hands Chapter bring furious retribution to the Slaanesh-worshipping citizens of Contqual. The Iron Hands face one of their oldest foes as the forces of Chaos infest a hive world. With surprising links back to the Horus Heresy and the death of Ferrus Manus, this is a defining tale for the sons of the Gorgon.

Truly awful.
Revisado: 08-09-24
I am not sure what is going on at GW that every now and again a book like this gets published. The plot is ponderous, the writing awkward and often grammatically dubious, the characters forgettable and the narrator sounds as though they might be in actual pain (in fairness they might be having to read this whole thing out).
I abandoned this and deleted it off my audible app after ~6 hours. Out of the thousands of books I’ve read and the hundreds of audiobooks I’ve gotten through, I’ve only stopped mid-way on four. This is one of those atrocities of literature.
Do yourself a favour and save the credit for something better.

The Reaper is a legend, more myth than man: the savior of worlds, the leader of the Rising, the breaker of chains. But the Reaper is also Darrow, born of the red soil of Mars: a husband, a father, a friend. The worlds once needed the Reaper. But now they need Darrow. Because after the dark age will come a new age: of light, of victory, of hope.

Historia
Once a united Legion, the disparate splinters of the Emperor’s Children now eke out a violent, hedonistic existence between the stars, raiding and ravaging worlds to indulge their fathomless appetites. Xantine, proud leader of the Adored and a true son of Fulgrim, wants more than simply pillaging backwater worlds. He soon finds what he has been searching for – Serrine, a wealthy but cruel planet festering under misrule and inequality, cut off from the Imperium by warp storms. It is too tantalising a prize to ignore, and Xantine sets out to bring perfection to his new world.

The narrator carried this fairly bland story to its conclusion. In fairness, it was fun to see the Tyranids pitted against the Emperor’s Children.
