Historia
Everyone in Athena, Mississippi, knows Charlie Harris, the good-natured librarian with a rescued Maine coon cat named Diesel that he walks on a leash. He's returned to his hometown to immerse himself in books, but soon enough he's entangled in a real-life thriller. A famous author of gory bestsellers and a former classmate of Charlie's, Godfrey Priest may be the pride of Athena, but Charlie remembers him as an arrogant, manipulative jerk—and he's not the only one. Godfrey's homecoming as a distinguished alumnus couldn't possibly go worse: by lunch, he's put a man in the hospital.

Why a female narrator?
Revisado: 03-16-25
The book was okay. This was a new to me author. Interesting twists. My main confusion was the female narrator. I listen to a Lot of books. This is the first one I’ve heard with a female narrator when the main character is a male, and it’s written in first person.

Clean-living, wholesome, and with a constant smile plastered on her pretty face, Dee Jones is my antithesis. She's also what I'm told I need to polish my somewhat tarnished image—apparently being papped getting friendly with a fellow holiday maker on a sun lounger after your ex does a kiss-and-tell with the media isn't exactly what Manchester Athletic deems great publicity for their bad boy midfielder. A repair job is needed, and the club is hoping that the super shiny star player for the women's team can transfer some of her good-girl sunshine stardust on to me.

Scoring off the pitch
Revisado: 01-16-25
I was so excited when I found out this series was coming. I love sports romance. This one is set in England so they’re playing football not soccer. Hopefully this is the first of many.
Rowan and Dee are fantastic in this enemies to lovers story. They’re quite opposites. Rowan has a reputation in dire need of some help. Dee is the consummate good girl. Always smiling and doing the right things. They sound like the perfect match.
Not only is Dee a goody, goody, but she’s her nephew’s caregiver. So why can’t Rowan stay away? These two are electric and competitive, and it plays out in all aspects of their lives. Everyone sees it but them. This one isn’t a slow, slow burn, but it’s is more of one than usual from this author. It fits the characters and feels right.
This is told in a first person, dual point view. I enjoyed the female narrator more than the male, but I eventually warmed up to him. Overall, it was well done.

Historia
When Gabrielle Solomon falls, she falls hard. Even if that means literally toppling over a porch railing in nothing but a flimsy towel—right in front of her sexy new neighbor. Jay Stetson is 100 percent hero material with those arms, that chest, and his deliciously oh-so-sexy smirk. The chiseled hunk in flannel has an irresistible off-limits attitude while plucking Gabrielle out of the bushes and saving her from a snake. Unfortunately, he’s not indulging in what Gabrielle is offering—not with his emotional train wreck of a past.

Pulls the heart strings.
Revisado: 12-19-24
I loved the audio of this one. Great narration. They were new to me narrators. The emotions were pretty high in this one for all the parties involved. Gabrielle and Jay have a wonderful meet cute. This author is very good at the meet cutes. The hero and heroine have some tough choices to make. They have to think about the kids and protect their hearts. Seeing Gabby and Jay getting their happy ending was quite a roller coaster, but definitely worth it. Everyone needs family in whatever form that is. This is a standalone with a lot of interesting side stories too.

Have you ever been dumped right before the holidays? It sucks. Luckily, my handsome hockey player roommate steps in with a plan. He's going to volunteer his services as my personal trainer, so that I can get a revenge body and make my ex regret leaving me. But during our long, sweaty sessions at the gym, I find myself becoming more and more attracted to Sven. His muscles are enough to make any girl swoon. He is sweet and caring with a panty-melting smile. Did I mention he's my ex's brother? Ignoring that, Sven might manage to save my Christmas from being an utter disaster, after all.

I made a deal with my brother a long time ago to never date his teammates. Technically, Rowan Landry, the hot as hell center for the Chicago Falcons, is no longer my brother’s teammate. Or his best friend. Their college days are long behind them, and they barely talk now. Also, I’m not dating him—we’re just sleeping together. There’s a difference.

Return to hockey
Revisado: 10-16-24
I was so excited to hear about a new hockey series from this writing duo. I love their hockey books. I actually listened to this one. The audio is absolutely amazing! It has a full cast in duet mode.
Kyleigh and Rowan have an instant connection. The problem being that he has no idea who she is. Her brother has a no dating his teammates policy. Ex-teammates don’t count though, right? It was fun to see characters we already love making appearances. I loved the chemistry between these two. It was definitely one of their spicier books. I wish Kyleigh would have come clean a little sooner. Kyleigh’s brother isn’t quite on board with the situation. Don’t worry, a HEA is guaranteed. I can’t wait for the next one.

Outstanding Audio!
Revisado: 09-14-24
I read this one, and then listened to it. The narration is phenomenal on this one. These are two of my favorite narrators.
This is the third installment of the Haven series, and it’s my favorite so far. Garrett is everything I wanted him to be. I especially loved that he fell first, and was all in whether he wanted to be or not. Harper is the new baker in town, as she’s taking over her aunt’s shop. It was fun getting to know her. She’s quirky in the most wonderful way. That translates into her fitting into Tilikum perfectly. I found myself wishing I could stop in and shop as she would talk about her desserts.
This one has a lot of elements that I look for. It has fantastic sibling banter and family dinners. There’s a failed meet cute, but the actual meet cute is absolute perfection. Since Garrett is a single dad, we get a chance to hang out with Owen. Owen has a way of stealing the scene. He was precious. The Haven patriarch even pops up spectacularly.
Each book of the series has a mystery of its own. They can all be read as stand-alone, but I highly recommend reading in order. Deputy Garrett Haven gets put on a cold case, and not everyone in town is excited about it. I was surprised by the ending. Give it a try, and see if you figure it out before Garrett does.

Keeps you guessing
Revisado: 09-08-24
I’ve watched the television series, but this was my time reading one of the books. I started off reading, and finished with the audio. It was very well done. I found the story quite entertaining. There were several twists that kept me guessing. I thought I had figured it out, but I was wrong. If you like whodunnit books, then you should definitely give this one a try. There’s a reason the series is so popular. Vera is claiming she wants to try being more in touch with her crew. She has trouble actually making the changes. She’s a fantastic character.

It’s the classic story— best friends since childhood agree to a fake marriage, thinking they can pretend to love each other without their relationship changing. Jude would do anything for me. He’s stood by my side since we were six, and I’ve done the same for him. When my father dies, leaving our family farm drowning in debt and on the brink of being auctioned, I’m not surprised Jude steps in to help. I just never dreamed he’d fall to bended knee and devise a plan for us to fool everyone into thinking there’s more than a lifelong friendship between us.

Two of my favorite narrators
Revisado: 07-06-24
I absolutely loved this book. I knew I would love Jude because I love a grumpy man. I don’t tend to gravitate toward friends to lovers, but this writing duo make me love them. I couldn’t wait to find out the backstory of Jude and Sadie, and it didn’t disappoint. I don’t think I’ve ever had book reel me in so tightly just from the prologue. Jude and Sadie have been best friends since they were six years old. Their need to marry helps them to finally acknowledge their feelings. The whole town already knew they were in love anyway. I so enjoyed Jude’s dad’s part in their story. I’m glad we got to see glimpses of Brooks and Lottie. I’m already looking forward to their book. The audio of this released early so I listened to it. Two of my favorite narrators performed it in duet style. Duet is my favorite style. I don’t toss this out in the universe lightly, but this is one of my top reads of the year so far.

Here, twelve-year-old Thea can run free and breathe in the smell of pine. But as her parents head back to suburban Virginia, they have no idea they’re about to cross paths with a ticking time bomb. Back in Kentucky, Thea and her grandmother Lucy both awaken from the same nightmare. And though the two have never discussed the special kind of sight they share, they know as soon as their tearful eyes meet that something terrible has happened.

The perfect amount of spooky.
Revisado: 05-23-24
I Absolutely Loved this book. I was a smidgen hesitant because I wasn’t sure if I would be into the mind games of it, but I’m glad I took the plunge. I’m not sure if it is meant to be a true standalone or starting something else, but I would definitely be interested in more of these characters. I was able to listen to the audio version as well as reading it, and the narrator did such fantastic job of bringing the story to life. Thea was such an interesting character. Following along with how her mind works had me on the edge of my seat. Throw in a single dad neighbor in the form of Ty and I’m sold. Little Bray was a great addition to the book. I definitely recommend this one.

Interesting twist
Revisado: 04-13-24
Wonderful narration. The main female voice is fast becoming a favorite of mine. I think it was a nice touch having the third person doing a voice. It gave those sections a whole different feel.
This author is in her romantic suspense era, and I’m here for it. If you would have asked me a couple years ago if I could be so invested in the Havens, I would have said absolutely not. But here I am loving the whole family. Marigold has been smitten with Zachary Haven as far back as she can remember. Something has happened to make things between them tense, and not tense in a good way. I knew there was a backstory, but I was definitely surprised by it. Zachary might have to actually work for her now, or did he wait too long? I can’t wait to see how the other brothers get their HEAs.
