Historia
On the day the government decrees that women are no longer allowed more than 100 words daily, Dr. Jean McClellan is in denial. This can't happen here. Not in America. Not to her. This is just the beginning. Soon women are not permitted to hold jobs. Girls are no longer taught to read or write. Females no longer have a voice. Before, the average person spoke 16,000 words a day, but now women only have 100 to make themselves heard. But this is not the end. For herself, her daughter, and every woman silenced, Jean will reclaim her voice.

This seems almost plausible now
Revisado: 02-27-25
If you are a fan of The Handmaids Tale, you have to read this. This book is almost a plausible reality that we could be facing in America. Regardless of what side of politics you land on, you must read this. Pay attention, especially women.

Interesting idea
Revisado: 09-25-24
I liked the story and I think it was a very interesting plot line. I absolutely hated the virtual voice narration. I understand it is quicker and probably less expensive to use virtual voice but it comes very close to entirely ruining the whole book and definitely makes it much harder to enjoy. Please stop using virtual voice.

I loved the book but absolutely hated the virtual voice narration. The narration came very close to ruining the whole book. It took me three times as long to finish because I kept giving up on it because of the virtual voice narration. I would highly suggest that the author and publishers re-release this book with an actual narrator as the story deserves a live narrator.

Historia
Whispering Pines is a classic, quiet, private American subdivision on the edge of Asheville, NC, set in the pristine Blue Ridge Mountains. Which is good since the zombie apocalypse has come to Western North Carolina and really put suburban living to the test! Surrounded by a sea of the undead, the residents of Whispering Pines have adapted their bucolic life of block parties to scavenging parties, common area groundskeeping to immediate area warfare, neighborhood beautification to neighborhood fortification.
