Historia
Grace Condry has spent a lifetime running from her past. Betrayed as a child by her only love and raised on the streets, she now hides in plain sight as queen of London’s darkest corners. Grace has a sharp mind and a powerful right hook and has never met an enemy she could not best, until the man she once loved returns. Single-minded and ruthless, Ewan, Duke of Marwick, has spent a decade searching for the woman he never stopped loving. A long-ago gamble may have lost her forever, but Ewan will go to any lengths to win Grace back...and make her his duchess.

Unbearable. Don’t read if you read the previous 2 books and loved them.
Revisado: 12-20-23
I abandoned halfway in. I love this author and have read almost all her books. They are all wonderful. I loved them.
This one is not. You cannot have the protagonist the villain from the previous 2 books and then try to ‘phony-rehabilitate’ him for a love story. His are deep character failings - they are not just ‘circumstances’ as the author tries to convince us. No self-respecting human (much less if he tried to kill you already) would fall for someone like him. This is a huge fail. Author should have tried to pair Grace with a worthy human.

Historia
Bold, impulsive, and a magnet for trouble, Juliana Fiori is no simpering English miss. She refuses to play by society's rules: She speaks her mind, cares nothing for the approval of the ton, and can throw a punch with remarkable accuracy. Her scandalous nature makes her a favorite subject of London's most practiced gossips...and precisely the kind of woman the duke of Leighton wants far far away from him.

Historia
A lady does not smoke cheroot. She does not ride astride. She does not fence or attend duels. She does not fire a pistol, and she never gambles at a gentlemen's club. Lady Calpurnia Hartwell has always followed the rules, rules that have left her unmarried - and more than a little unsatisfied. And so she's vowed to break the rules and live the life of pleasure she's been missing. But to dance every dance, to steal a midnight kiss - to do those things, Callie will need a willing partner. Someone who knows everything about rule-breaking. Someone like Gabriel St. John, the Marquess of Ralston....

One of the most wonderful books I’ve read with the best narrator in audiobooks
Revisado: 04-30-21
Amazing story. Full of romance and suspense and the sexiest sexual tension I’ve read in ages. Cherry on top: the female character is actually based on a real person - the first female physician in the UK. Highly highly recommend.
The narrator, Mary’s Jane Wells is the best narrator in audiobooks. Her range is amazing and she narrates the male protagonist with a sexy voice that will curl your toes.

Historia
Although beautiful young widow Phoebe, Lady Clare, has never met West Ravenel, she knows one thing for certain: He’s a mean, rotten bully. Back in boarding school, he made her late husband’s life a misery, and she’ll never forgive him for it. But when Phoebe attends a family wedding, she encounters a dashing and impossibly charming stranger who sends a fire-and-ice jolt of attraction through her. And then he introduces himself...as none other than West Ravenel.

Great book - Best narration
Revisado: 04-30-21
The book is wonderful and the narration puts it over the top.
Mary Jane Wells is by far the best narrator in audiobooks. Her voice is wonderful and her range is unbelievable. These days, I buy books because she narrates them, I like her that much. I just returned The Devil in Winter, narrated by someone else whose voice ruined the book for me and pre-purchased the same book again because they are having May Jane Wells narrate it.

The worst narration of any book I’ve listened to
Revisado: 12-04-20
I feel bad for the author of this book. The story itself is lovely - psychologically astute, with much feeling and love for the characters. The fact that I stuck with it until the end is because of the author’s writing ability and engaging story.
If you want to enjoy this book, my advice is not not purchase the audio version. As was said by almost every other reviewer here, the narration of the Eileen character was unbearably annoying. It’s hard to describe how irritating it was. It’s a mixture of wet, gasping, swallowing, spitting, smacking. It was awful. It made my skin crawl. I was too cheap to abandon the audio version and buy the ebook (and told myself she did not read every chapter after all) but I regret it. I never got used to it and dreaded every chapter she read.
I did like the narrator who read Lena. Very lovely energy and I felt she brought the character to perfect life.
I would have given the book 4 stars otherwise but the narration ruined it for me.
