Historia
The Gordon Riots marked a crucial turning point in the fight for Catholic emancipation. Over the next 50 years, factions battled to reform the laws of the land. Kings George III and George IV refused to address the “Catholic Question,” even when pressed by their prime ministers. But in 1829, through the dogged work of charismatic Irish lawyer Daniel O’Connell and the support of the great Duke of Wellington, the watershed Roman Catholic Relief Act finally passed, opening the door to the radical transformation of the Victorian age.

Very interesting book. I liked the objectivity of the author.
Obvious that for some being anti-Catholic was a land and assets grab.

Historia
First published in 1952, Witness came on the heals of America's trial of the century, in which Whittaker Chambers accused Alger Hiss, a full-standing member of the political establishment, of spying for the Soviet Union. In this penetrating philosophical memoir, Chambers recounts the famous case as well as his own experiences as a Communist agent in the United States, his later renunciation of communism, and his conversion to Christianity.

Revisado: 02-23-25
Great book. Imagine how much communist or leftist infiltration exists today.
Even then there was plenty of cover given to our internal enemies by the media and government sympathizers.
Fantastic use of the language. People just don’t seem to be capable of writing like that today.
The author suffered tremendously for the truth.

Historia
We live in an anxious age. Long-held certainties, cherished beliefs, and social trust are crumbling. Don’t expect things to get better. For too long we have taken our Christian heritage—the heritage upon which America was built—for granted. But we’re rapidly, and now inevitably, losing the Christian culture that shaped the American republic. What will take its place is a despotism—and a new paganism, worse than the old, because it will be based on a hatred of Christianity.

Revisado: 11-28-24
Great book explaining how America is becoming a pagan society.
My favorite part is near the end where the author promotes the Boniface option as opposed to the Benedict option.

Historia
Most Americans dismiss George III as a buffoon - a heartless and terrible monarch with few, if any, redeeming qualities. The best-known modern interpretation of him is Jonathan Groff's preening, spitting, and pompous take in Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda's Broadway masterpiece. But this deeply unflattering characterization is rooted in the prejudiced and brilliantly persuasive opinions of 18th-century revolutionaries. After combing through hundreds of thousands of pages of never-before-published correspondence, award-winning historian Andrew Roberts has uncovered the truth.

Excellent and informative!
Revisado: 06-23-24
I was attracted to this book because in every war propaganda is always used. It’s about making your side look like saints and the other side to appear as evil.
I have always been suspicious about portrayals of George III. This book lays out a good defense of his character and motives.
It is good to remember that communication took weeks. More rapid communication may have prevented misunderstandings.
Mistakes were made on both sides.
One of my favorite parts that caused me to admire the king more was when he refused to complete the peace treaty until the loyalists were compensated as well they should have been.
We would be extremely happy today to pay the same tax rate as the colonists.

The New York Times bestselling author and entrepreneur investigates what would happen if a new financial world order took hold, one in which global elites own everything and you own nothing—and yet you are somehow happy. In You Will Own Nothing¸ Roth reveals how the agendas of Wall Street, world governments, international organizations, socialist activists, and multinational corporations like Blackrock all work together to reduce the power of the dollar and prevent millions of Americans from taking control of their wealth.

An eye opener
Revisado: 10-01-23
Great book showing the dangers to legitimate freedom in America.
I would say that according to the author the greatest threat is directed towards private property.
A population can be controlled by controlling access to ownership of everything including basic necessities.
At the end of the book there are some practical solutions as to how to fight back.
I largely agreed with the book, however I believe the only real solution is a Return to Order namely, a return to God and to His Ten Commandments.

Historia
The attack on Nazi Germany’s dams on May 17, 1943, was one of the most remarkable feats in military history. The absurdly young men of the Royal Air Force’s 617 Squadron set forth in cold blood and darkness, without benefit of electronic aids, to fly lumbering heavy bombers straight and level towards a target at a height above the water less than the length of a bowling alley. Yet this story has never been told in full. Max Hastings takes us back to the May 1943 raid to reveal how the truth of that night is considerably different from the popularized account most people know.

Great, great story of an heroic mission.
My one reservation is that why does the immoral aspects as in fornication and adultery need to be presented? No bearing on the story.
I guess in a hyper-sexualized culture authors think they will sell more books.

Here is the astonishing, never-before-told story of the greatest rescue mission of World War II: when the OSS set out to recover more than 500 airmen trapped behind enemy lines. During a bombing campaign, hundreds of American airmen were shot down in Nazi-occupied Yugoslavia. Local Serbian villagers risked their own lives to give refuge to the soldiers, and for months the airmen lived in hiding, waiting for rescue.

Incredible story of bravery and loyalty!
Revisado: 02-07-23
Great book. The rescuer of so many allied pilots and his fellow countrymen braved torture and death for themselves and their families, due to loyalty and bravery.
As seen by the betrayals they had nothing to gain but a clear lesson.
The lesson for me reinforced by this book is to never trust a communist or those who trust them.
