Really drawn out romance

I generally enjoy Jenny Colgan’s books but this series has so far been painful. Teenage romance, dumb decisions and adult dumb decisions. I didn’t really like the main character and wanted to tell, “just get on with it!” I won’t listen to any more in the series, if there are more to come.

I’m almost always surprised!

I am hooked on the Gamache series, and always ready to move to the next book. Mostly, I so appreciate that I often cannot figure out the end of the story! Especially with a series, by the same author, I can often see the pattern and anticipate the story. I love that! Ms. Penny is such good writer and I really appreciate the complexity, the literary and art and scriptural references. She knows her audience has a broad knowledge base and never “dumbs it down.” Thank you, and please keep writing!

Thank you for the gift of these rich characters! Most of all, thank you to Mr Osman for one of the most beautifully written scenes I’ve read in a long time (most recently in The Covenant of Water). Truly, moved to tears… thank you.

Too religious for me

This was not what I expected… it was an interesting story with unexpected directions in the plot. But, it was not advertised as an evangelizing book. It’s ok, I just would like to have know that up front…

Not one of my favorites…

For reasons I can’t quite put my finger on, I was disappointed with this book. Not sure if it was the narration - unclear accents,
or the story- choppy narrative,
or what… it was just kind of flat…

Not my favorite

I enjoyed the first book, and the overall storyline of this book was interesting, but it felt pretty elementary. The thing that bugged me most, given this is an audible book, was an entire chapter that read the headings of communications (email?). It wasn’t necessary and became really annoying.
I will still listen to the third book in the series… hope it’s a little better.

Peek into movie making and a real story

We’ll written, told like no other story… you get a sense of all the work that goes into making a major motion picture, and it’s personal too. It’s a great story, with a beginning, middle and end. And of course, with Tim Hanks narrating the majority, it was even better. Thank you so much!
