Historia
The author was drawn into the United States Army through ROTC, and he went through training to fly helicopters in combat over Vietnam. His experiences are notable because he flew both Huey “Slicks” and Huey “Gunships”: the former on defense as he flew troops into battle, and the latter on offense as he took the battle to the enemy. Through this book, the author relives his experiences flying and fighting, with special attention given to his and other pilots’ day-to-day lives.

Voiced with AI. Disappointing delivery, just seemed weird.
Revisado: 05-18-24
The stories themselves are remarkable.
But having AI voice the story felt clunky and awkward the entire time.
No Hunter says, “point three zero zero M. A. G. Calibers rifle” it’s a .300 Mag.
One example of many that made me tilt my head and wonder what I just heard as I listened to the book.
Please stop with the AI. Have a human read the books and stories please.

Historia
Of the 1.3 million active-duty service members in the US military, only a tiny fraction are selected as “operators.” Shannon Kent was one of the first women to serve at this level and was widely recognized as one of the best. Shannon served as a Navy cryptologic technician, responsible for signals intelligence and electronic warfare, but her proficiency with language set her apart. She was assigned to a unit so secretive that its name can’t even be printed here, where she worked clandestinely to hunt the most wanted terrorists in the world.

Shannon Kent was a giant among men. Her story is inspiring, grounding and extremely powerful.
That there are Americans like Shannon gives me faith in the future of this nation and this world.
If you finish this book with dry eyes, you weren’t paying attention to Shannon’s story.

Historia
We are living through the most prosperous age in all of human history, yet we are listless, divided, and miserable. Wealth and comfort are unparalleled, but our political landscape is unmoored, and rates of suicide, loneliness, and chronic illness continue to skyrocket. How do we explain the gap between these truths? And how should we respond? For evolutionary biologists Heather Heying and Bret Weinstein, the cause of our troubles is clear: The accelerating rate of change in the modern world has outstripped the capacity of our brains and bodies to adapt.

I loved the unbiased and “non woke” approach to social issues! It is refreshing to find scientists and authors who are not afraid to go against the grain and to express their findings regardless of social pressures!

Drawing on cutting-edge neuroscience, behavioral economic, and social psychology research, acclaimed author, former Harvard professor, and think tank founder Todd Rose reveals how so much of our thinking about each other is informed by false assumptions that drive bad decisions that make us dangerously mistrustful as a society and hopelessly unhappy as individuals.

On June 13, 1966, men of the 1st Recon Battalion, 1st Marine Division were stationed on Hill 488. Before the week was over, they would fight the battle that would make them the most highly decorated small unit in the entire history of the US military, winning a Congressional Medal of Honor, four Navy Crosses, 13 Silver Stars, and 18 Purple Hearts - some of them posthumously.

Amazing story, vividly detailed delivery. The loud, over the top voices the narrator uses at times were a bit much and took away from the story.
Overall, story is fantastic!

Great book, less than desirable narration
Revisado: 02-29-24
The story was great, hearing all of the different individual accounts offered a unique perspective.
However, the fact that the narrator attempted to use different accents, mannerisms and tones (even trying to imitate a couple of women) was absurd and greatly took away from the books story.
Either read the story in one tone, or play the veterans accounts (if they were recorded). But please do not try to imitate a Texas accent, and
then a Boston/Chicago, etc.

The world’s greatest bodybuilder. The world’s highest-paid movie star. The leader of the world’s sixth-largest economy. That these are the same person sounds like the setup to a joke, but this is no joke. This is Arnold Schwarzenegger. And this did not happen by accident. Arnold’s stratospheric success happened as part of a process. As the result of clear vision, big thinking, hard work, direct communication, resilient problem-solving, open-minded curiosity, and a commitment to giving back. All of it guided by the one lesson Arnold’s father hammered into him above all: be useful.

Historia
The Frozen Chosen is an account of the breakout from the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea by the First Marine Division from November to December 1950, following the intervention of Red China in the Korean War. Fought during the worst blizzard in a century, it is considered by the US Marine Corps to be the Corps' finest hour. Fourteen Medals of Honor, a record for any American battle, and 85 Navy Crosses attest to the intensity of the battle.

“If I were God, what would you want for Christmas?” With a thousand-yard stare, a haggard and bloodied marine looked incredulously at the war correspondent who asked him this question. In an answer that took “almost forever,” the marine responded, “Give me tomorrow." After nearly four months of continuous and bloody combat in Korea, such a wish seemed impossible.
