this one was just dull. I've been through most of his works, enjoyed many of them, but this is just bad. most of the stories read like a blogger trying to get more traffic before talking about a tiny spooky thing that happened.

I understand the nature of such stories, but making them slightly believable shouldn't be to hard, chapter 9 just threw it all in the garbage, the biggest earthquake to ever hit south Virginia was a 3.3 back in the 70s. so the whole "mothman warned me just before a huge earthquake" is just bad story telling. if you're gonna gather and share these stories, maybe do some research first so they aren't blatant lies or fabrications

“I fear not the dark ... but what may lurk within it” From the author of the bestselling series, Encounters in the Woods and What Lurks Beyond, comes a new series focused exclusively on the creepy, scary, and dangerous things that lurk in the deep forests. Ethan Hayes has been collecting firsthand encounters from people all over the world for years and in Fear in the Forest, he has saved some of his best stories for the pages ahead. From terrifying face to face encounters with Bigfoot and Sasquatch, to horrifying instances of being stalked by a Wendigo and Black Eyed Children; Ethan ...

kind of a disappointment

so, let's deal with the elephant, the virtual voice is abysmal and I would love for these to be done right with a voice that can give the stories some suspense and life.
secondly, while I do understand the nature of such stories, there were a few in this volume that were so obviously fabrications and/or rip offs.

great concept and story, 6th grade writing
Revisado: 01-20-25
I loved the horror aspects, it was a good generic werewolf story, but the writing was amateurish enough that it took away a lot, to much exposition, to much filler, etc.
the narrator sounded decent, but inflection and tone change, especially for chapter endings, were nonexistent

I could not finish it, the reader sounds so stilted and AI'ish (which is not a thing I ever though I'd have to say)

bit of a let down
Revisado: 02-06-23
I had high hopes for a Cordelia centric book, but it just turned into a "I want 6 daughters, so I'm gonna have 6" story. the fact that she didn't even talk to Aral about it is a bit unlike her. side note: Miles' family not even acknowledging Nicky with a "where is Nicky?" moment was a low point in an already underwhelming book.
I have love the entire saga more than most books I've read, and this was just disappointing. I would've loved a novella around Aral's funeral instead of this. show us how Miles deals with being a count, and how Mark handles losing the one true father figure in his life, anything but this
