It had potential
Revisado: 04-29-25
The excellent narration brought life & energy to the story. However, the soul-sucking twist at the very end was meant to be clever, I guess, but was chilling in its suggestions. The protagonist’s ending ordeal could be triggering for many readers; the follow up was not believable; the final twist was suggestive of a hopeless repetition of self-serving manipulation—thus hope-dashing!
I’ll listen to 3 uplifting books to reverse the negative effects of the last little twist at the end. I won’t be reading more by this author, because world news is already full of painful, confusing events. Entertainment should lighten or enlighten our minds rather than undermining our mental wellbeing, which then affects us physically, emotionally, cognitively, AND relationally! 😣 No thanks. At least this was a short book rather than 10-20 hrs out of my life.

Historia
The child of a reputable family and a faithful son of the Church, Robert of Locksley had no intention of becoming an outlaw. But the relentless cruelty and tyranny by the elite nobility of England demanded that someone rise up to give answer. And so Robert of Locksley became Robin Hood, a man thrown into a fierce struggle to balance his deep faith with a call to action in a violent age. Featuring over 60 actors, cinematic sound, and original music, The Legends of Robin Hood is an exciting 12-part audio drama from the award-winning Augustine Institute.

After many movie versions , I wasn’t sure the audio would measure up, but IT DID! And a perfect length.
While cast was great but I could enjoy Gwilym Lee reading even a recipe!
This is a jewel of an audio👍

A mind-twisting puzzle
Revisado: 04-06-25
This crime detection mystery keeps the reader’s attention moving forward to find the solution to the puzzling crime, while wondering who to believe. The cast of actors give the perfect pace, energy, & doubt so one experiences the drive and frustration police investigators must feel as they try to figure out & catch a clever perp before more harm can be done!
I’d suggest NOT reading it at bedtime…even if you’re on the last chapter😉

It’s Valentine’s Day weekend, and Charlotte and Seth are not looking for romance. Armed with emotional-support bear spray, Charlotte is in self-imposed isolation and on guard from men. Having a stalker can do that to a person’s nerves. Just across the hall and giving off woodsy vibes is Seth, a recently divorced arborist. As in today recently. Heights, he’s fine with. Trust? Not so much.

Author did a great job of putting impact & humor in this short story. I’ve listened twice & enjoyed the second time as much as the first! The narrators are perfect & make the story come to life.

Historia
The auburned-haired O'Connor women share a bond far deeper than their striking physical appearance: These courageous, high-spirited women all push against societal limits in this exciting historical, romantic novel that spans generations and countries. It is said that as Cahira, daughter of the great Irish king Rory O'Connor, lay dying of a wound from a Norman blade, she beseeched God that others would follow her calling. To Kathleen O'Connor, Cahira's story was nothing more than a fable--until research divulged that the tale was true. As a stunned Kathleen realizes that she herself bears ...

Interesting characters & storyline…
Revisado: 03-13-25
Story quickly got my interest due to very real characters with depth & substance. AI narration took a while to get used to, but the historical focus grabbed my attention, so the voice became secondary. Anika’s story, at first far fetched, was written in a way that made it believable, especially when woven within church history with factual characters/actual history. As I progressed in the story, I became caught up in seeing the outcome for the major characters, so tasks needing more concentration went undone for today!

Revisado: 02-26-25
A nice interlude between heavier reading material. Quickly knew where it was going, but some nice little twists kept it from being mundane. Took my mind off stresses for a bit. Good delivery by narrator. Would have liked hearing the baritone singing voice🤔😊!
UPDATE: so enjoyable and short that I keep returning to listen again between heavier reading!! Not typical for me!

Historia
Geoffrey Lushington, Mayor of Marlow, dies suddenly during a Town Council meeting. When traces of aconite—also known as the queen of poisons—are found in his coffee cup, the police realize he was murdered. But who did it? And why? The police bring Judith, Suzie and Becks in to investigate as Civilian Advisors right from the start, so they have free rein to interview suspects and follow the evidence to their heart’s content, which is perfect because Judith has no time for rules and standard procedure.

Fun who-done-it!
Revisado: 02-03-25
The different personalities of the three female protagonists are a delight, especially as they learn to appreciate each other & begin to influence change in each other. The intricacies, red herrings, &twists keep the reader guessing all the way to the end without trashy, violent, or scary criminal sidelines. Likeable characters in a fun puzzle of “who done it?” with humor included! Just like my favorite show, Death in Paradise!

The characters are the highlight
Revisado: 11-30-24
Sweet Christmas story with some humor and an interesting story element. Both narrators were good voices to listen to: good vocal characteristics held my interest & were comfortable to listen to. On the up side, they were both well paced, clear, expressive, and genders clarified whose thoughts were the focus in each chapter. However, on the down side each voice clarified the focal character in the chapter but was non-distinctive for the secondary character in the chapter. It often required more attention to discern the character speaking within dialogues rather than being able to relax & just listen to the sweet story, imho.

Beautiful story of God’s grace & faithfulness
Revisado: 10-31-24
Sad but beautifully redemptive love story of God’s love & faithfulness to flawed people who turn or return to him. Rivers is faithful to scripture while adding the reality of life struggles in human life experiences.
