Historia
As a sorority pledge, there are commandments that Katie Vickery must live by. One: Thou shalt not show up for the party without a date. Two: The guy shall be an athlete, preferably an upperclassman. Unfortunately, Katie just broke up with her jerkface football player boyfriend. Even worse, her last encounter with him resulted in utter humiliation. She'd rather hide under the bed than attend a party where he'll be. Yet staying home would mean letting him win.

Not quite as fast-paced as I thought it would be
Revisado: 02-22-25
The story subject funny and intriguing, some stories a bit drawn out. Performance reading was very dry taking away humor from even the best stories.

Historia
In Creekstone, Texas, a small, quiet suburb of Houston, football was king and David Temple was a prince. A former high school and college gridiron-star-turned-coach, he had a fairy-tale marriage to bright, vivacious Belinda Lucas, a teacher at the local high school who was so warm and popular her colleagues called her "The Sunshine Girl". The fairy tale ended savagely on January 11, 1999, when Belinda's lifeless body was discovered in a closet. Her skull had been shattered by a shotgun blast at close range. She was eight months pregnant.

Never able to get into the story
Revisado: 12-31-24
Had been listening to the book for over 2 hours (on 1.25 speed) and the background of the main characters were still being told exhausting length and hadn’t gotten into the meat of the story. Couldn’t continue reading and gave up.

Approving of Pedophelia?
Revisado: 01-28-24
I’m going to go against the grain here. This story is full of abuse of women and abuse of women and children. It’s about broken women teaching little girls that to get a man you need to pleasure him sexually. Was I the only one root for the Aunt who tried to step up and protect the kids? How can everyone be ok with this “relationship” going from questionable to hugely inappropriate? This story is not romantic, it’s tragic. What it does show is how many people and agencies can (they don’t always) fail children in desperate situations. The character Kellen that everyone seems to have fallen in love with states over and over that “it’s wrong” but lets the acts happen. It’s disturbing how putting these characters in a positive light can sway so many people to move their moral line.
Performance was ok but there were many glitches in the recording and times when the character voices were a bit confusing . But fairly well read

Super short for a reason
Revisado: 12-11-23
Basically about hurting and healing after war. How these people and relationships shifted could have been done in a few chapters with all else implied. No plot twist, no big reveal.
I thought people were a bit too harsh about the narration from book 3, but I’m going to have to agree with them on book 4. Characters didn’t sound the same, one actually sounded like a robot. Pleasant enough voice to do this type of work but this series may have been a bit much for this narrator with so many characters.

Historia
This Psych 312 assignment just might send me off the deep end. Determining whether love at first sight really exists with Robbie Moravian as my project partner of all people? He’s the sappiest man alive, so upbeat I could scream, and clearly rooting for happy endings at every turn. How does he not learn from experience considering our own meet-cute last semester almost got us expelled? But we both need to pass this course to graduate. So we’re interviewing five random couples about their meet-cutes and relationships and spending all this time together. Which is certainly...educational.

Good story idea but lost to ok writing and over-dramatic performance
Revisado: 08-07-23
Like the tile says, the story idea is good but the writing is just ok and makes the story so slow. And the performance sounds like a badly over-acted play. Glad some liked it, just not my cup of tea.

Historia
Meet Jim Carrey. Sure, he's an insanely successful and beloved movie star drowning in wealth and privilege — but he's also lonely. Maybe past his prime. Maybe even...getting fat? He's tried diets, gurus, and cuddling with his military-grade Israeli guard dogs, but nothing seems to lift the cloud of emptiness and ennui. Even the sage advice of his best friend, actor, and dinosaur skull collector Nicolas Cage isn't enough to pull Carrey out of his slump.

All over the place
Revisado: 07-05-23
This book is not dark humor. It is rambling of depression, delusion, panic, anxiety to name a few. The writing is all over the place. What am I listening to, what am I following? It seems like a feeble swing at trying to tell a story of someone's darkest days of their personal, professional and spiritual lives and not make it a boo-hoo kind of read.
The narration was well-done for a book not well written or enjoyed.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Historia
Little River, New York, 1994: April Sawicki is living in a motorless motorhome that her father won in a poker game. Failing out of school, picking up shifts at a local diner, she’s left fending for herself in a town where she’s never quite felt at home. When she “borrows” her neighbor’s car to perform at an open mic night, she realizes her life could be much bigger than where she came from. After a fight with her dad, April packs her stuff and leaves for good, setting off on a journey to find a life that’s all hers.

An engaging story keeping you eager for more every chapter.
Revisado: 07-31-22
Although the story isn’t everyone’s experience on how they figured out how to navigate living as an adult in this big world, everyone can relate to some of the feelings, experiences, hopes and disappointments. The story is great and the narration holds the perfect tone and temperament of the character.
