Great!
Revisado: 04-15-21
I had watched the show previously but don't remember a lot of it. I found the book to be fantastic and Ron Perlman did a great job narrating. I'm disappointed he isn't narrating the next two books but I'm still looking forward to listening to them.

Great Book!
Revisado: 03-16-21
I found this to be an excellent Michael Crichton book. I had just listened to Andromeda Strain previously, and while it was pretty good I don't know if I enjoyed it as much as the hype/reviews made me believe I would.
However, I found Sphere to be quite excellent. The narration was great especially for Jerry, the story moved at a good pace, and the setting and descriptions were well done. I do think towards the end Norman got a tad dumb, but then again it could be in that situation he was remaining hopeful. I would definitely recommend Sphere.

He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

The cast does a great job with this book. My first and second times going through this were with the audiobook, it really is a great way to experience this book. I'm excited for the new movie

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Revisado: 05-08-19
I found the narrator to be enjoyable to listen too and performed a good range of voices for the different characters in the novel. The story was quite interesting, although I watched the show prior to listening to the book and there are differences. As usual, I found the book to be better personally but they are both interesting and recommended.

Historia
In the 25th century, humankind has spread throughout the galaxy, monitored by the watchful eye of the U.N. While divisions in race, religion, and class still exist, advances in technology have redefined life itself. Now, assuming one can afford the expensive procedure, a person's consciousness can be stored in a cortical stack at the base of the brain and easily downloaded into a new body (or "sleeve") making death nothing more than a minor blip on a screen.

Original and worth a listen
Revisado: 02-08-18
I felt like the story was really good and it is quite different from most is the fantasy I read, although it's obvious Netflix has changed and refined the plot to better suit television. I felt like the narrator did a great job with most of the voices, however all of the female voices come across southern. Prescotts voice was interesting... Miriam Bancroft sounds more like what Prescott should have, the stripper sounds the same as Miriam only with cruder words. Still definitely recommend and I like Kovacs voice, but narrator could have done better with differentiating the female roles. Although I doubt I could even make two voices sound different consistently.

Great but didn't realize it was YA
Revisado: 10-19-17
While other reviews have said this book appeals to those that aren't nerdy, I think its basically for nerds or 80's kids/teenagers (now adults). The story is pretty good although it has that awkward love interest like a lot of YA fiction and it's really hard to believe the main characters are college age. Although they live in a world where you spend more time in VR than reality so I guess it can still make sense. Coming from Outlander I guess it was just strange.
Overall though the story is pretty great and it's fun getting all of the references from movies and games, to music and tabletop RPGs. Wil Wheaton did a good job narrating and I thought it was pretty funny that he was mentioned in the book, even if only a slight reference. I would definitely recommend this book but not sure about Armada. I think the nerd gold is what made this much more successful than it otherwise would've been.

Still reading but Paul is letting me down...
Revisado: 09-01-17
I am still in chapter 1, however the change to having the actor playing Paul Atreides do the narration is quite shocking coming immediately from book 1. The main problem is he reads everything in the exact same voice as his character, for everyone and everything. He occasionally gets his rants pretty good but that's his role as Paul, definitely felt like the main narrator from Dune should've continued. Lot of the names are the same so hopefully it changes soon, thankfully its only like 8 hours long

Historia
Renowned poet and critic Clive James presents the crowning achievement of his career: a monumental translation into English verse of Dante’s The Divine Comedy. The Divine Comedy is the precursor of modern literature, and this translation - decades in the making - gives us the entire epic as a single, coherent and compulsively listenable lyric poem. Written in the early 14th century and completed in 1321, the year of Dante’s death, The Divine Comedy is perhaps the greatest work of epic poetry ever composed.

Narration made this perfect
Revisado: 06-30-17
The narrator was absolutely amazing and I don't think I would've ever read this if not for that. The story is great, although I did find I had to rewind a lot more in this than other books as I listen primarily when I drive, and the divine comedy is not that easy to follow when you're not focused on it. I think this book, and the Jim Dale Harry Potter books are what got me addicted to audio books and podcasts. Although I will say Steven Weber in IT is pretty great too, especially in scenes of distress.

Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made 28 years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children.

Wow...
Revisado: 06-28-17
Just finished and this audiobook is well worth the money or your credit. The narrator, Steven Weber makes the book and characters come to life. His main protagonists are diverse and the supporting roles like the dramatic female roles (Eddie's wife?) and the cabby drivers are all excellent as well. I don't normally read horror, so I'm not sure if it's Stephen King's writing, or part of the writing style of horror, but the descriptions in this book are extremely detailed and he manages to make normal sentences perfectly flow into a dark narrative scene. Pennywise is creepy, I think it's hard for a book to be super frightening, but I will say the way Weber reads the sentences, increasing his voice and pitch as the sentence goes on as his "horror" increases. It's pretty great...
NOTE: For all the people saying the audiobook drops words, that's actually incorrect, it's exactly how the book is written. It will transition midsentence and it happens more in the second half. Wish people would look some stuff up before reviewing, especially since so many are rated as helpful but completely false...
