A perfect reminder that the cozy lives we live are just one disaster away from this book becoming a reality. Although I was a little skeptical of the narrator at first, she quickly grew on me and found her very well suited to portray the characters. The book itself was fleshed out to the point where the characters seemed extremely real. The author does an excellent job building a scene portraying everyday life that quickly and devastatingly changes due to forces that are amplified by human negligence. Looking forward to reading more by this author! I’m now on my way to befriend some scientists who’ll let me know when it’s time to look for high ground

The Amazing Race

I’m honored to be one of the first reviews on this gem of a book. I absolutely loved listening to this book, and Andi Arndt was a perfect narrator for it. As a huge fan of The Amazing Race it was nice to get an insight into why the show was started in the first place as well as learn more about Elise Doganieri. While she has lived an extraordinary life she seems like a very down to earth and lovely person which comes through in how much she truly cares about The Amazing Race and traveling the world as a whole.

The book is exactly as described in the description. Neat little tidbits about the show as well as the history of some of the sites that were travelled to throughout the last 20 plus years of the show. I will say that the book form is probably the optimal version because in the end it is an excellent travel guide which is probably a little more accessible being able to read about the destinations. But then you would be missing out on Ardnt’s wonderful narration of it. So, maybe having both is the only correct option? Either way, if you’re a fan of The Amazing Race and want to experience some of the places visited for yourself there is no better one stop shop than this book.

A very fun book

While not normally my first choice in book, “Ad Hominem” surprised me with a very interesting story and well developed characters. The whole book had me entertained and laughing throughout. Joel Simler did an absolutely incredible job of bringing the voices to life and I couldn’t imagine a person better fitted to the role. All in all, with an especially fitting epilogue, it was a fun ride. Definitely will recommend!

Great Narrator

The narrator for this book is fantastic and overall he really added a great deal to an already great story.
