Historia
Doris Grandfelt, an employee at an accounting firm, was brutally stabbed to death . . . but nobody knew exactly where the crime took place. Her body was found the next night, dumped among a dense thicket of trees along the edge of an urban park, eight miles east of St. Paul, Minnesota. Despite her twin sister Lara Grandfelt’s persistent calls to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the killer was never found.

Disappointing
Revisado: 03-27-25
Eleven hours long but the book ended without the story ending. I have read every book in the Prey series and never before have I been disappointed. Is there a sequel? If so, that’s a departure from the rubric where each book can be read as a standalone. Too bad because the story was fantastic.

Every morning Boone Daniels is out with the Dawn Patrol: four men and one woman as single-minded about surfing as he is, or nearly. They have real jobs; Boone works as a P.I. just enough to keep himself in fish tacos and in the water. Historia
Robert McCall is a former covert operations officer for the CIA who tries to atone for past sins by offering, free of charge, his services as a protector, an investigator, and a troubleshooter—often literally. Aided by a group of sometimes-mysterious contacts, some of whom date back to his spying days, McCall traverses the streets of New York City, visiting justice upon those who prey upon the weak. A woman finds herself the target of a Chechen nightclub owner. The club is actually a front for an elite assassination service—run by an old enemy of McCall’s.

This book is too long. There are several parallel plots plus a flashback story. It could have been a good book for the genre. Are there no editors any more?

Historia
Rice Moore is just beginning to think his troubles are behind him. He’s found a job protecting a remote forest preserve in Virginian Appalachia where his main responsibilities include tracking wildlife and refurbishing cabins. It’s hard work, and totally solitary - perfect to hide away from the Mexican drug cartels he betrayed back in Arizona. But when Rice finds the carcass of a bear killed on the grounds, the quiet solitude he’s so desperately sought is suddenly at risk.

Exquisitely written
Revisado: 09-07-20
This book is a joy for the depth of character development, the treatment of complex moral issues and the stunning descriptions of nature. There is a mystery here, but it is a novel not a true mystery. I think this explains the disparity between reviewers. If you were looking for Jack Reacher or Walt Longmire (both of whom I love), you would be disappointed. But if you are looking for a compelling novel read this book! Andrews was a perfect choice for narrator and is outstanding.

Historia
A series of horrifying events occur in quick succession in the same upscale L.A. neighborhood. A backyard renovation unearths an infant's body, buried 60 years ago. And soon thereafter in a nearby park, another disturbingly bizarre discovery is made not far from the body of a young woman shot in the head. Helping LAPD homicide detective Milo Sturgis to link these eerie incidents is brilliant psychologist Alex Delaware. But even the good doctor's vast experience with matters both clinical and criminal might not be enough.

Predictable
Revisado: 04-01-13
As with most long running series, the characters get to be a bit old. I think Dr. Delaware should think about retirement. But if you are a big fan of the series, or the sub-genre, you will probably enjoy this book well enough.
