explainations of behaviors that one can be aware of its definition prior to living thru it to have to learn it.
Revisado: 02-03-24
the narrator was dull and the story's got a little confusing and almost made me forget what book I was listening too and what purpose I thought I had to need to read this one. good information and accurate definitions of everything. I may feel different after I get a few days to review all the clips i saved. maybe a peppier voice or one not so cynical sounding would make the difference. overall its worth the read if your still in the "maybe its my fault and issue too solve" stage. And completely clueless on whats going on. its throughough

Historia
Narcissistic and toxic mothers are often injured in their childhoods by their own stunted emotional development. In order to fully develop into a healthy adult, we need a very nurturing and emotionally validating environment. Toxic and narcissistic mothers often grow up without that nurturing. They have jumped through hoops and tailored themselves to others around them. They have been invited to be a part of mind games, lies, and manipulation. They may have been told repeatedly that they weren't wanted.

identifying them is easier than exposing them.
Revisado: 12-21-21
It's exactly as the title says it is. and nothing more. Once you identify these characteristics you will need to download a bunch more books to have options for your own families situation and issues. it's probably too late for mine to be healed as a family together. But it can be helpful as a guide for a daughter of a narcissistic mother and can help steer away from repeating the same within their own relationships in life.

if you truly want help, then it won't disappoint
Revisado: 11-16-21
This book is everything one needs to getting real results. it's all there for clarification of someone going thru such toxic drama and families in crisis. Demanding our non negotiables is step 2 and step 1 is figuring out now after years or decades of enabling and accepting it. Figuring out what's not ok ANYMORE is a task of its own.. I will definitely tell anyone I know or meet if relivent to take a listen or I will share with them myself that's how accurate and informative this entire book. I found myself speaking back almost identical to what was the next sentences coming. Att.grade from me.. only now how to get them to even allow it to be considered when I'm apparently dead to them for not accepting their sons rules and methods of how one should family. including my guy that truly believes that he owes his mother for always keeping his problems solved. in time otherwise In the dating market I go. after all never was good enough yet to marry after 19 years 2 twin daughters age 14. But I'm still going to do my work so it will work itself out for me atleast .. thank you for writing what many need to hear and face.

I thought it was well read and this book could be used for research for the younger generation as preventative research to point out behavior traits that one may want to avoid pursuing further with such relationships.

When it comes to the “hard seasons” of life—the death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job—transformation seems impossible when grief and uncertainty dominate your days. Especially when, as Didn’t See that Coming reveals, no one asks to have their future completely rearranged for them. But, as Rachel Hollis writes, it is up to you how you come through your pain—you can come through changed for the better, having learned and grown, or stuck in place where your identity becomes rooted in what hurt you.

I wanted more of the story and more inspiration. it was hard to hang in till the end, which I only did to make sure I didn't miss the key step or secret or idea of how one gets to the next step in their life after they have began healing thru their traumas! Its still got some great tips and relatable storytelling soit helps a reader stay till the end. For my taste it was too short and just not one of my favorites (post Covid19) by Rachel Hollis, I want more information on how she can specifically help each reader actually make the first steps and then the rest of the staircase!

Exhausted and overworked lawyer, triathlete, wife, and mom Meredith Atwood decided one morning that she'd had it. She didn't take her kids to school. She didn't go to work. She didn't go to the gym. When she pulled herself out of bed hours later than she should have, she found a note from her husband next to two empty bottles of wine and a stack of unpaid bills: You need to get your sh*t together. In The Year of No Nonsense, Atwood shares what she learned, tackling struggles with work, family, and body image, and also willpower and time management.
