Amazing
Revisado: 05-04-22
Transformative and beautifully written. I see life, and death, differently now. Bronnie’s telling made me aware of the part of me that was always running toward something, and now that feels silly. I see that I can just be.

Historia
The epidemic of loneliness and depression among CEOs, executives, and founders is rampant, yet, we continue to create and foster relationships in the same way we always have - with boring networking events that leave us more disconnected than ever. Born of author Chris Schembra's own disillusionment with success and his increasing sense of isolation, this book shares the journey of 7:47 Club dinners and how he used them to foster gratitude, empathy, and human connection in his life and in the lives of thousands of friends and colleagues.

Revisado: 10-06-21
Had it not been recommended by my book club, I think I would’ve missed a pretty cool read. The author has a perspective and way of life I’d never considered, which at first I thought might alienate me. I’m not very theatrical, and I’m social only on demand, which left me pondering whether this style would fully fit my personality. But I kept reading and got a crystal clear playbook on how to make a room of people connect intimately. I may actually do some modified version of this when the pandemic subsides, or maybe the whole thing. Who knows. Either way, I’m glad to have read it, it was very refreshing, and I learned a good bit.

Historia
Too many workplaces are driven by cynicism, paranoia, and self-interest. But the best ones foster trust and cooperation because their leaders build what Sinek calls a "Circle of Safety" that separates the security inside the team from the challenges outside. Sinek illustrates his ideas with fascinating true stories that range from the military to big business, from government to investment banking.

A bit too opinionated
Revisado: 08-26-21
…not that I disagree with a lot of the opinions in the book, but they weren’t consistently backed up with facts. I don’t feel I can confidently adopt the approaches suggested because they were largely based on Simon’s experience, not objective facts and observations.

One of the best books I’ve ever read
Revisado: 12-01-19
What I enjoyed most about this book was that it didn’t feel theoretical at all. You actually live through true rejection in all its extremes vicariously through Jia, which is a very helpful privilege and jumpstart to face your own fears of rejection.
Thank you for doing this Jia.

What if charisma could be taught? For the first time, science and technology have taken charisma apart, figured it out and turned it into an applied science: In controlled laboratory experiments, researchers could raise or lower people's level of charisma as if they were turning a dial. What you'll find here is practical magic: unique knowledge, drawn from a variety of sciences, revealing what charisma really is and how it works. You'll get both the insights and the techniques you need to apply this knowledge. The world will become your lab, and every person you meet, a chance to experiment.

I loved it
Revisado: 04-16-18
I thought the narrator was perfect, and the content really helpful. I clipped audio and made notes for myself to reference later, but I found that a lot of the information stuck. It refined my perspective on what goes in to human interaction.
