With no brothers to carry out her father’s legacy, Sh’mira, the maimed daughter of a prosperous farmer, must marry a man willing to leave his home. However, the only one who does not scorn her disfigurement is Ariel, her father’s bondservant. In exchange for his freedom, Ariel’s master offers him Sh’mira as a bride and the rights of a firstborn son, but the former Commander of the Temple Guard cannot accept the honor. Couldn’t finish this book
Revisado: 03-20-25
Author picked an interesting subject, but the computer generated narrative was impossible to get through. The lack of emotions, mispronunciations, emphasis on all wrong places. Just couldn’t continue. I hope computer generated narratives is not the future.

A line of women who would be warriors for truth “It is said that as Cahira, daughter of the great Irish king Rory O’Connor, lay dying of a wound from a Norman blade, she lifted her hand toward heaven and beseeched God that others would follow after her, bright stars who would break forth from the courses to which they are bound and restore right in this murderous world…” To Kathleen O’Connor, Cahira’s story is nothing more than a charming legend—until her research divulges that several of Cahira’s heirs did, indeed, leave the traditional roles of womanhood to fight for right...

Historia
The irascible A. J. Fikry, owner of Island Books - the only bookstore on Alice Island - has already lost his wife. Now his most prized possession, a rare book, has been stolen from right under his nose in the most embarrassing of circumstances. The store itself, it seems, will be next to go. One night upon closing, he discovers a toddler in his children’s section with a note from her mother pinned to her Elmo doll: I want Maya to grow up in a place with books and among people who care about such kinds of things. I love her very much, but I can no longer take care of her.

Historia
The auburned-haired O'Connor women share a bond far deeper than their striking physical appearance: These courageous, high-spirited women all push against societal limits in this exciting historical, romantic novel that spans generations and countries. It is said that as Cahira, daughter of the great Irish king Rory O'Connor, lay dying of a wound from a Norman blade, she beseeched God that others would follow her calling. To Kathleen O'Connor, Cahira's story was nothing more than a fable--until research divulged that the tale was true. As a stunned Kathleen realizes that she herself bears ...

interesting historical fiction
Revisado: 01-28-25
Angela Hunt dives deep into history & brings to it to life. this was the days of Jan Hus, Czechoslovakian, theologian, that took on the dishonest Catholic Church of that time. definitely an improvement of the virtual narrative, but still emotions & necessary, pauses are missing! I do so enjoy Angela Hunt incredible work though.

I do like the author’s writing but a narrative like this I can’t continue to listen to. It is so boring it puts you asleep. No emotion. I could not finish the book. I hope this isn’t the future of narratives on audible.
