A peculiar tablet unearthed in a Middle Eastern ossuary provokes madness in those who encounter it. One by one, people come under the tablet's sway and are subjected to horrific visions and dreams. In time, the tablet's true purpose becomes clear: It is the harbinger of an eons-dead god whose reemergence will steep the world in terror and suffering. Exorcist meets...I don't know what but holy jesus this book kept me up. I had to turn it OFF and keep a nitelite going for days after.
Beware of old ladies and freaky mysterious artifacts.
The narrator is beyond compare...adds to the fright.

Thanks Ambrose, for the sleepless nights!
Revisado: 11-13-17
Creeping and atmospheric, dark and oddly sarcastic at times. Like no other occult thriller, with fully-developed, loveable and unlikeable characters. The narrator MAKES this book. Even for those who scoff at the supernatural - it will make that neck hair come to attention.

Historia
The two-time Emmy Award-winning actress has written her first book, a surprisingly raw and triumphant memoir that is outrageous, moving, sweet, tragic, and heartbreakingly honest. Guts is a true triumph - a memoir that manages to be as frank and revealing as Augusten Burroughs, yet as hilarious and witty as David Sedaris.

Raw and Hilarious

You don't have to be a fan to love this book.
Kristen's cautionary tale of excess is riveting and unique in a saturated genre. She delivers some of the best audiobook narration ever - that voice!
Loved it.

An astonishing gem-narration is perfect
Revisado: 07-13-14
If you could sum up Tales of the Forgotten in three words, what would they be?
Take a knee
What was one of the most memorable moments of Tales of the Forgotten?
Creeping isolation permeates - hard to choose.
Which scene was your favorite?
All the road scenes
If you could rename Tales of the Forgotten, what would you call it?
No need to rename, they were forgotten
Any additional comments?
This one blows the mold. No long political dissertations, no blowhard religious cults. It is pure action and suspense, from start to finish. But with believable, not over the top characters. They are US soldiers, stationed in Afghanistan, so they are equipped and know their weapons but there is no certainty to the outcome at any point. They are not really ever safe. Lots of hide and seek, in urban and rural areas. The primals, aka zombies, are fierce and at times, terrifying, and you will not get a nice explanation gift wrapped as to how they come to be. I LOVED it and cannot wait for another one in this series. Narration is exceptional, it is one of the best i have purchased all around.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
The narrator brings all the characters to life. He is an amazing vocal talent, switching voices, dialects and genders seemlessly. Also, the story is original and packed with action, mysteries, hilarious family dynamics (check out the parents!). You will love Owen in very short order. More than your average accountant.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Monster Hunter International?
Hard to say, it has so many twists and turns. It has some suprisingly moving moments, that I was not expecting.
What about Oliver Wyman’s performance did you like?
All of it. It is flawless and fun to listen to!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
It's a family business.....
Any additional comments?
I have ordered the entire series, based on how much I enjoyed the first. The gradual unfolding of plot and character make this special. The author truly reels you in and the surprises never end. Enjoy!
