Historia
Find the missing. Fear the found. Three months have passed since the aliens' arrival, but little has changed in the skies. Motherships still hover, impervious to attack and communication. Spherical shuttles ferry about with unclear intentions. But the abductions of select humans have ended, and most of those taken have been returned - dazed, incoherent, and prophesying glory or doom, but home where they belong. Still, nine seemingly unconnected people remain missing.

Sustains
Revisado: 02-16-22
The second book of the series invites new characters and explores the originals. I enjoyed the real life drama that unfolded when even close family members are secluded together with nowhere else to go. Interwoven relationships and surprising caveats. I look forward to the third.

They are coming. The countdown has begun. First visible only as blips on a telescope image, the discovery of objects approaching from Jupiter's orbit immediately sets humanity on edge. NASA doesn't even bother to deny the alien ships' existence. The popular Astral space app (broadcasting from the far side of the moon and accessible by anyone with Internet) has already shown the populace what is coming.

Pace Improves
Revisado: 02-12-22
Story begins a little slow and made me wonder whether I should continue. It didn't take long for the characters and events to hook me. The pace felt slow but remained steady enough for me to follow the characters on their journey. Exciting, heart thumping, emotional and suspenseful. Particularly the ending. Worth the effort to hang in.

Historia
In this charming and heartwarming retelling of the classic It’s a Wonderful Life, Camille Pagán introduces us to Bailey, a dutiful yet sharp-witted 30-something who finds herself on the verge of a nervous breakdown as Christmas Eve approaches. As if it wasn’t enough that Bailey’s husband just cheated on her, the family business she’s been running since her parents died, which employs most of her small town, is about to go under. But even as she’s questioning whether her life has any meaning, Bailey bumps into a handsome stranger who claims to know her.

Its Not Wonderful But Its Pretty Good
Revisado: 07-07-21
It's a Wonderful Life is one of my favorite holiday movies. Like 'A Christmas Carol,' this story has been tweaked and twisted every which way. Sometimes to make it more up-to-date. Sometimes to change the sexes (as in this story). Sometimes, even the Nationalities are changed around. Though I was entertained by this rendition, I was not enthralled as I had hoped. Thin in character development and storyline, probably abbreviated by time constraint. Pretty Good, but not Wonderful.

When she arrives, however, Scarpetta finds that nothing is as she expected: her former lab is in the final stages of demolition; the inept chief isn't the one who requested her after all; her old assistant chief has developed personal problems that he won't reveal; and a glamorous FBI agent meddles with the case.

Scarpetta holds up
Revisado: 06-07-21
Every Cornwell book begins with an attention grabbing moment. From then on I know I'm hooked. Hearing Kate Reading read makes the best better. Any book she reads will be a good one. She makes them that way. The storyline is poignant and heartwarming at moments. I was moved to just about every emotion throughout this book. I own this book and have re-read it more than once. Always holds up.

Thirty years ago, Wilde was found as a boy living feral in the woods, with no memory of his past. Now an adult, he still doesn't know where he comes from, and another child has gone missing. No one seems to take Naomi Pine's disappearance seriously, not even her father - with one exception. Hester Crimstein, a television criminal attorney, knows through her grandson that Naomi was relentlessly bullied at school. Hester asks Wilde - with whom she shares a tragic connection - to use his unique skills to help find Naomi.

Revisado: 05-21-20
I’ve only read a couple of Harlan Coben‘s books. This one impressed me so well because of it engaging characters. The story kept my attention throughout. Moving from one scene to another and one character group to another. No confusion there at all. Dialogue was great and suspenseful. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a mix of mystery and drama and a little whimsy too. I could not give it higher marks and I would question anyone giving less than the full. Read the book. The Regrets wil only belong to the characters.

More about Kinsey
Revisado: 05-17-20
So many of the stories leave threads of ambiguity as they go along. Little teasers. ‘Ping’ and move on. Kinsey’s relationships and past experiences are touched on and sometimes not expanded. Sort of fun to read a story that fleshed out the thread of her marriage experience. Also, how it went awry. A bit of a tearjerker at the end and that was a splash of nice.

Historia
Leaving behind her private forensic pathology practice in Charleston, South Carolina, Kay Scarpetta accepts an assignment in New York City, where the NYPD has asked her to examine an injured man on Bellevue Hospital’s psychiatric prison ward. The handcuffed and chained patient, Oscar Bane, has specifically asked for her, and when she literally has her gloved hands on him, he begins to talk—and the story he has to tell turns out to be one of the most bizarre she has ever heard.

Revisado: 01-05-20
I can always count on Scarpetta stories to keep me on the edge of my seat. Just when I think I cannot stand the bad guys getting away with another horrible thing, one of the characters steps in and saves the day. Never the same, always intriguing and worth every tense exciting minute.

Scarpetta can cook!
Revisado: 12-03-19
For years now I have enjoyed the trials and tribulations and escapades of Kay Scarpetta and her cohorts. I have listened to CJ Critt’s audiobooks for years, too. Her voice is so easy to listen to. That makes a big difference in an audiobook for me. The Scarpetta books are always intriguing, interesting and entertaining. I can listen to them again and again.

Historia
Northern Ireland, spring 1981. Hunger strikes, riots, power cuts, a homophobic serial killer with a penchant for opera, and a young woman’s suicide that may yet turn out to be murder: on the surface, the events are unconnected, but then things—and people—aren’t always what they seem. Detective Sergeant Duffy is the man tasked with trying to get to the bottom of it all. It’s no easy job—especially when it turns out that one of the victims was involved in the IRA but was last seen discussing business with someone from the loyalist Ulster Volunteer Force.

Cold Cold Disappointment
Revisado: 08-18-18
After reading Hidden River, I was excited and looking forward to more Adrian McKinty. I was so sure of that, I purchased it before I realized how completely mistaken I could be. It has taken me weeks of piecemeal listening to trudge my way along. I hoped to have the story break into an engaging story event. With six-plus hours of listening still left, I give up. I don't mind giving stories an effort and benefit of a doubt. What I cannot do is force myself time after time to endure a story that is not only droning, but drifts incessantly in a way I cannot follow. It does not build upon itself, nor does it establish a cohesive storyline. Perhaps it may, eventually, but it will happen without me. One day I may attempt another McKinty story, but not any day soon. I can only hope that Hidden River is not a one hit wonder. If I could return the book for a refund I would do it.

Murder club
Revisado: 08-02-18
I have been enjoying the murder club series. It’s great to hear again how they all got together. I enjoy books and movies that portray women as feminine and strong, intelligent and effective. This book was a fun read. I particularly appreciate the plot twist at the end. Well done!
