What an awesome story
Revisado: 04-21-25
Ms Harmon, I’m so grateful to you for this story. I can’t imagine anyone doing a better job a portraying the story of the western expansion in a more balanced and beautiful way. You managed to bring out the best in people through this telling and given the truth of what happened this was no small feat.
I also want to thank the narrators. What a great listen. Your voices conveyed the story and emotions vividly. I’m sure I’ll listen to this book over and over.

Historia
Delve into the story of Bob, “The Most Notorious Cattle Rustler of Our Time” and the “nicest guy you’d ever wanna meet”. A man who has managed millions of dollars of illegal cash, most of it said to be buried under his north Texas ranch in 55-gallon drums. Meet the man who survived 19 prison stabbings, poisonous hamburgers, tear gas attacks, and being thrown over a third story railing in jail. A tough hombre, for sure. But also a man generous to a fault, often showering those he knew with gifts and financial help.

At first, I just thought it was really corny. But then it turned stupid and finally by chapter 14 disgusting. I might as well just watch TV.

I’ve listened to a lot of the John stones and I really love all of them, but this one, just such a great plot and the narrator is just outstanding. If you like Johnstone, I think you’ll enjoy this.

Sixteen-year-old Henry was ejected from the enormous St. Martin ranch and told never to return, or he would be shot on sight. He vowed to return and seek revenge against the entire family. Historia
Owen Wister’s The Virginian pre-dates the classic novels of Zane Grey and Max Brand and is considered by many to be the original Western. Dedicated to Wister’s friend and fellow outdoorsman Theodore Roosevelt, this timeless tale almost single-handedly established the cowboy archetype in literature. A quiet, noble foreman of a Wyoming cattle ranch in the 1870s, the Virginian falls for pretty schoolteacher Molly Wood. But when a rival suitor challenges his honor, the Virginian struggles to make his beloved Molly understand the harsh justice of the West.

Virtual voice unlistenable

Please just hire a real actor to read these books. Every character sounds exactly the same with the virtual voice. It’s very rum drum and ruins the story.

The 2nd half of Chapter 7
Revisado: 12-29-23
Is all you really need to read. The rest of the book is a bit of a slog, and some of it spurious. It’s about mind over matter, but explains and asserts the impact of our subconscious mind on our bodies and lived lives, and tips on how to retrain it. I really like the second half of Chapter 7. Also, if you turn the speed down to .7 or so, his narration is much more bearable.
