I admit I hadn't expected the book to be very good. Yet it was not only excellent, I kept me enthralled the entire time. I couldn't stop listening.

if you like Legend of the Archmagus then you will probably like this, too. It has a very "Modern Nobility" vibe.

Such an oblivious sweetheart

I absolutely love Charlie. Perfectly imperfect. Having a character flaw be you are too sweet and generous is not a bad way to be.

Zero immersion. Not enough descriptions.

Couldn't get into this book. There isn't enough descriptions so it feels more like a first draft or a plot outline.

Not enough (or any) character descriptions so I can't begin to picture the characters in my mind, making me unable to feel anything for them.

Not enough battle descriptions, making them feel flat and boring.

Not enough scene descriptions (besides one word, such as "basement" or "high school") so can't figure out what the setting is. Small town? City? No clue.

Not enough emotions. Not enough showing how the world is reacting. Not enough reason given for why the character acts as he does.

In review, this feels like a concept and not a fully fleshed out story.

Loving this series

I can't help but be impatient for more books to come out. This is rapidly becoming one of my favorite series. It has so much potential. So many ways for the story to go.

No Happily Ever After

The mystery is great. The romance was disappointing. I admit I was hoping for more. Perhaps the entire series is a long, drawn out process of the two falling in love? I just wish I knew before I started listening so I could modify my expectations.

Couldn't Stop Listening

This book is very engaging. Hard to stop listening once I started. Nothing felt overdone (pet peeve of mine) and the book ended with the hope of the next book in the series.

I felt that this book shined a light on the struggles of coming out that could go on for years. I was a bit frustrated with the main character for being so anti- confrontational which was why I couldn't give this book 5 stars. It felt unrealistic to me. Although that may just prove that I haven't met a wide enough variety of people.

Realistic yet emotionally detached

I felt like this was a realistic yet unrealistic at the same time. The main character, Preston, is seen by others as this emotionally detached person, yet we, the readers, are supposed to be in on the fact that he does, in fact, have feelings. Yet I'm not feeling it. At all. Things that I felt should have merited an emotional reaction (even inside the guy's own head), were not commented on at all until they were brought up later when the main character pointed that moment out as having bothered him. The entire book felt detached. SPOILER: Towards the end when Wade tells Preston that Wade knows that Preston THINKS he's in love, I felt that, yeah. I'm not really certain if this guy is actually in love or not.

On the other hand, Art's reaction towards the end of the book is something I can completely relate to. Because if that had happened to me, I would have reacted the exact same way. I would not have seen that happening to me as romantic at all.

If you want a sweet, drama free, romance then this is the book for you. Truthfully, I thought it was a bit boring. Sweet, yes. But dull.

If you don't like horses, this book isn't for you.

I feel like the book title should have had something with the word "horse" in it considering just how much the book has to do with horses. I feel like this is the book you give to someone before you give them a book featuring horse play.

Extremely Disappointed

Considering the other books in the series, I thought I knew what I was getting into. I did not. Very little romance. A whole lot of action. Not to mention torture. This was not the book I was expecting at all. I felt like the other books in the series are heart warming. Not this one. Thoroughly disappointed.
