Well written. Bings into the open a whole lot of truths we too often ignore wherever we live. Congratulations to the author for setting them in print and audio.

Loved it! Will speak to anyone who has ever relaxed beneath or beside a tree! Wonderful prose. Great narration. Intriguing and clear scientific explanations. And for those not exact but similar environs with which I am familiar, to my ear, accurate descriptions of the sonic networks of nature, including humans.

Poor Narration
Revisado: 04-09-18
Would you try another book from Carola Dunn and/or Lucy Rayner?
Yes for Carola Dunn books, but I am having a hard time listening to Lucy Raynor's narration.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Daisy as usual. Love her ability to wiggle herself in and out of situations.
What didn’t you like about Lucy Rayner’s performance?
The voices she uses for characters are often grating, and don't suit the characters' personalities . . . and are often so similar that I would have to back up the story to listen a second time to determine who was saying what.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The redeeming bit was the story . . . the issue is that while I love the series, this narrator is going to be hard to listen to for me to get through the next books. I just listened to #8 & #9 but I will have to take some time away from listening to the series to forget how irritating the narrator was before I try the next ones.

Interesting story . .. poor performance
Revisado: 04-09-18
What did you like best about To Davy Jones Below? What did you like least?
Storyline interesting but the narrator made listening a struggle!
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda! The plot was there and kept me intrigued, but only sufficiently to make me listen just to find out the answers. The interpretation of various characters voices and personalities kept grating on my nerves, making me wish I had bought or borrowed the actual book to read so I didn't have to listen to what the narrator thought the voices and personalities should be.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Ruined the book for me. I kept getting so irritated with her that I would have to put the book down and listen to a different one until I had calmed down enough to carry on.
Did To Davy Jones Below inspire you to do anything?
Yes . . . to keep more than one Audible book at a time downloaded on my phone so that I could switch to a more pleasantly narrated one when the narrator's voices got to be just too irritating.

But when one of the house guests is murdered, her brother-in-law asks her to aid the insufferable Sebastian Gage - a fellow guest with some experience as an inquiry agent. Good story, poor narration.
Revisado: 08-09-16
The story was great. a little repetitive in a few spots. but still great overall. The narrator was not good.....doesn't seem to know how to see ahead so doesn't do well with phrasing nor appropriate inflections....makes the story stilted far too often. Her one redeeming point is that she does try to put emotion into the dialogue between characters ...though often that, too, didn't seem appropriate to what I believe the author was trying to portray. I would love to hear this story narrated by someone who could better instill feeling into descriptive prose rather than sounding like an old time newscaster reading from a script picked up just seconds before going on air.
