Historia
In 1918, after four harrowing years on the Western Front, Tom Sherbourne returns to Australia to take a job as the lighthouse keeper on remote Janus Rock. To this isolated island, where the supply boat comes only four times a year and shore leaves are granted every other year at best, Tom brings a young, bold, and loving wife, Isabel. Three years later, after two miscarriages and one stillbirth, the grieving Isabel is tending the grave of her newly lost infant when she hears a baby’s cries on the wind. A boat has washed up on shore carrying a dead man and a living baby.

5 Stars — Hauntingly Beautiful and Heart-Wrenching
Revisado: 04-17-25
This is one of those books that stays with you long after the final page. The story of Tom and Isabel, a lighthouse keeper and his wife living on a remote Australian island, is both tender and tragic. Their moral dilemma—centered around a baby they find washed ashore—unfolds with quiet intensity and aching humanity. Stedman’s prose is lyrical and emotionally rich, painting both the wild landscape and the inner turmoil of her characters with stunning depth. This novel broke my heart. A must-read for lovers of historical fiction and ethical complexity.

Historia
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

5 Stars – A Masterpiece of Heartbreak and Hope
Revisado: 04-12-25
This book wrecked me—in the best way. I cried more reading this book than I have with any other. Barbara Kingsolver’s portrayal of Damon, a boy growing up in the broken foster care system, felt so raw and real it nearly undid me. I loved June, whose quiet strength and care for Damon stayed with me long after the last page. His complicated love for his mother, even in the face of her addiction, was deeply moving. I sobbed when he found a glimpse of happiness with Angus and Coach, and I broke when he lost it to addiction.
But the redemption at the end was what I truly wished for the entire book. Watching Damon sober up, reconnect with nature, and begin to see beauty again made my heart flip. Angus and Damon’s bond was everything. She always believed in him, and he in her. The idea of the two of them sailing off into a new chapter of life brought me to tears again, but this time out of hope.
As someone with a brother battling addiction, this story hit me personally. It gave me a sense of possibility. Maybe there’s still light at the end of the tunnel.
Not a second of this book wasn’t perfection. It’s one of my favorite reads of all time.

Epic Scale of Conflict
Revisado: 04-05-25
In *Kingdom of Ash*, the final book in Sarah J. Maas' *Throne of Glass* series, several themes and moments stood out. Here are a few key elements:
1. **The Epic Scale of the Conflict**: The battle between good and evil reached a massive, world-altering scale. The stakes were incredibly high, with not just the fate of the kingdom but the survival of the world at risk. The war, the alliances, and the high-level stakes felt very real and urgent.
2. **Character Development and Growth**: This book saw significant growth in all major characters. Aelin, in particular, faced immense personal challenges, including physical and emotional trials. Her resilience, strength, and willingness to sacrifice for others were showcased in powerful ways. The way characters like Aedion, Lysandra, and even Dorian evolved was notable, with each of them stepping up and playing a crucial role in the story’s resolution.
3. **Sacrifice and Friendship**: Themes of sacrifice were central. Aelin’s willingness to give everything for her people was a huge moment of personal growth and a testament to her character’s strength. Additionally, the bonds of friendship and loyalty were powerfully depicted, especially with the camaraderie between Aelin, Rowan, and their allies.
4. **Emotional Moments**: There were many deeply emotional scenes that had readers invested—whether it was a heartbreaking loss or moments of love and unity. The reunion between Aelin and her loved ones after intense separation was especially emotional and cathartic.
5. **The Resolution of the Series’ Arcs**: *Kingdom of Ash* delivered on resolving long-running character arcs and mysteries, tying up the fates of characters in satisfying and often unexpected ways. The way Maas wrapped up the conflicts involving magic, royalty, and personal vendettas was deeply rewarding for fans who had been invested in the series from the beginning.
6. **Aelin’s Journey**: Aelin's journey from being a rebellious, somewhat selfish character to one who understands the weight of true leadership and sacrifice was one of the most poignant elements. Her resilience and determination to overcome the darkness, both physically and emotionally, were especially remarkable.
The book left a lasting impression because of its emotional depth, high-stakes action, and the growth of beloved characters. It was a fitting conclusion to the series, bringing together the themes of power, love, loyalty, and destiny ❤️

Funny, refreshing, and a little chaotic—just like a wedding toast gone awry! 🎉
Revisado: 03-28-25
Lucy Vine's *What Fresh Hell* is an entertaining dive into the chaotic world of friendships, weddings, and adulthood. The book humorously explores the challenges of navigating multiple roles as a friend, guest, and sometimes reluctant participant in the whirlwind of nuptial celebrations.
Vine's witty and relatable writing shines, creating laugh-out-loud moments that anyone who's ever attended a wedding (or ten) will recognize. The cast of characters, while amusing, occasionally feels a bit exaggerated, making it hard to connect deeply with them at times. Additionally, the story may rely on clichés here and there, but Vine's sharp humor and refreshing voice make up for it.
Overall, *What Fresh Hell* is a delightful read for fans of relatable humor and contemporary fiction. It's not a flawless journey, but it captures the absurdity of modern social life with panache. Very easy read.

An Unforgettable Journey
Revisado: 03-21-25
Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas is an absolutely captivating read that hooked me from start to finish! The world-building is rich and immersive, the characters are complex and relatable, and the emotional depth is incredible. Chaol’s journey of healing, both physically and emotionally, is portrayed so beautifully, and the new characters introduced add so much to the story. Maas masterfully intertwines action, romance, and heart-wrenching moments, leaving me eagerly turning each page. One of my favorite books so far! Highly recommend!

Animal offers a bold, unflinching look at the complexities of desire, trauma, and female identity. While the narrative is compelling and raw, its heavy themes and sometimes slow pacing might not appeal to everyone, but it’s a thought-provoking read overall. Would recommend
