Historia
What does it mean to be human? This timeless question proves critical as we seek to understand our purpose, identity, and significance. Amidst the many voices clamoring to shape our understanding of humanity, the Bible reveals important truths related to our human identity and vocation that are critical to the flourishing of all of creation. Carmen Joy Imes seeks to recover the theologically rich message of the creation narratives starting in the book of Genesis as they illuminate what it means to be human.

Historia
What was Jesus doing prior to his conception in Mary’s womb? While we see the father and the Holy Spirit actively engaged in human affairs across the pages of the Old Testament, the other member of the Trinity is foreshadowed in messianic prophecies but otherwise absent from the earth. Or is he? Jesus Before Bethlehem explores dozens of Old Testament appearances by a figure often called “the angel of the lord”. He not only speaks for God; he speaks as God.

Embodied Yahweh of the Old Testament
Revisado: 06-13-21
Growing up in church I'd often hear of the "pre-incarnate" Christ. Rarely any fleshing out of the concept. This book takes and runs with the topic and explains the gravity of an embodied Yahweh in the old testament and how it links to the doctrine of the Trinity. The author references works from Dr. Michael Heiser and nicely fills in on some of the topics I've wanted to further look into.

Historia
Did Jesus of Nazareth really intend to start a brand-new religion called Christianity? Or did he come to fulfill that which all of the Hebrew prophets had foretold since the fall of man, something the holy scriptures mysteriously call the restitution of all things? Veteran journalist and author Joseph Farah seeks to shed light on what few sermons today teach about, few authors expound upon, and few Bible studies explore: the coming kingdom of God.

misses the point
Revisado: 05-01-21
The author is very focused on the Law and seems to think that we should still follow it even while under the New Covenant. There are some good points made in the book about various topics, but everything is viewed through this lens.

A must read/listen for any Christian
Revisado: 02-21-21
This book opens the door of context for what the ancient Hebrews would have been thinking as well as the supernatural world view of the NT writers. The information in this book illuminates the connectedness of the Old and New Testaments in ways I've never heard while growing up in conservative Baptist churches. Even if you aren't inclined to accept the concepts Heiser presents, it is still worth the time because of the historical nature of the content.

Historia
This is an academic work describing how the New Testament writers re-purpose Genesis 6:1-5 in their presentation of Jesus as messiah. Though every topic addressed in Reversing Hermon can be found in scholarly academic literature, Reversing Hermon is the first book to gather this information and make it accessible to Bible students everywhere. The book also includes lengthy appendices on the ancient debate on the inspiration of the book of 1 Enoch, New Testament allusions to the book, and academic resources.

Historia
The prophets of old were not easy to listen to because they did not flatter. They did not cajole. They spoke hard words that often chafed and unsettled their listeners. Like the Old Testament prophets, and more recent prophetic voices like Frederick Douglass, Dr. Eric Mason calls the evangelical church to a much-needed reckoning.
