Historia
"It was like falling off a cliff into a sea of explanations..." "Bold. Hard-hitting. Spellbinding. And shocking." Author Michael Rood dresses in the sandals, head covering, tunic, and robe from an ancient time and distant place. But don't let the authentic attire and humble introduction disarm you, for in the next split second, Michael shifts into high gear, grabs you by the hand, leads you on a journey back through your Bible, shakes you to the foundations of your soul, and changes you forever. What can a Jewish scholar and theologian teach a Christian about Christianity? Plenty! Michael ...

Mixed Accuracy
Revisado: 10-17-24
This book finishes with great advice, and good elements are found throughout. However, ironically, Rood deals with historical inaccuracies and anachronisms with equally egregious ininaccuracies and anachronism, especially on holidays and pagan practices. Some of those details have long been refuted and corrected, and others are presented as fact that cannot be verified.

The Terrifying Nexus ... and Out
Revisado: 07-27-24
Craig Robertson definitely loves his time travel stories. (So do I.) Seeing the building story of Matthew Dunsratty is intriguing and dramatic, well thought out, and, as usual, witty and fun. It's nice that we have a story without Jon Ryan (as fun as he is!) that contemplates implications of time travel for an everyday person. Seeing the ramped up stakes for our everyday-man who is more capable than even he realized keeps the story gripping and edge-of-your-seat while grounded in everyday mundanity.

Not quite the same, but still good.
Revisado: 12-06-22
I discovered Andrew Rowe through an offer of a free book (How to Defeat a Demon King in Ten Easy Steps, which I highly recommend.) I then launched into the Arcane Ascension books without looking back, pre-ordering any books.
This story did not captivate me as much. I am not sure if it was not having Nick Podehl at the helm (one of my all-time favorite performers), a burn-out on LitRPG (God forbid), or something different in the story (first time with another author, Kayleigh Nicol).
That being said, it was still a good story! I found myself cheering our new protagonists on, and I felt ... the ending. I am looking forward to more in this and the other series, to see how the story progresses and ties in with the other series.

The Land plus God-mode
Revisado: 10-25-22
If you've read "The Land" and enjoyed it, this is simply another great addition. Aleron Kong is masterful at the LitRPG art, and Luke Daniels is a great addition as narrator. It is too easy to be drawn in. I go through several books a month, and every time I take on Kong's books I don't want the story to stop.

Revisado: 10-19-22
This story definitely goes transcendental. As usual, it is a good story, great characters, and amazing narration. Any of these stories is worth the time and some consciousness.

It's raining in Liscor. The spring rains have come and Liscor's entire geography changes with the dawning of the new year. The Floodplains of Liscor live up to their name, and the only way anyone is going to travel is by boat. With the rains come more monsters, dungeon delving, more goblins...not to mention some unwanted attention for the Wandering Inn.

Devastatingly good
Revisado: 09-23-22
Honestly, this is a review for the series: Pirate Abs is weaving a fantastical LitRPG that makes us care for everyone involved. Sometimes, there is s longing to be with established char while learning about a new one or several, but then there is the wonder about newer characters, how they all connect, and when secrets will be revealed.
Very much a must read. (Language and violence warning!)

A worthy sequel series
Revisado: 09-07-22
It was intriguing to see where Morin could take the Twinborn saga. Between his writing and Mikael's narration, this was a great set to follow the original. There were throwbacks and cameos that are completely relevant and necessary, and the introduction of new elements made for an overall joy to read (listen to).

Fighting Our Demons in the Black Ocean
Revisado: 08-16-22
Morin is amazing at helping us care for characters, understand motivations, and drawing us into this universe. Naramore is amazing at making the characters come alive and feel like we are in the middle of the action.
This branch off of what started as a stowaway story that grew into a sort of criminal adventure family continues the family dynamics and focuses on overcoming our personal demons without completely losing ourselves. I was excited to see a complete bundle so that I could take days (weeks, as I listened mostly while driving) to immerse myself in the story without breaking to find the next book. My wife occasionally listened along and was surprised to find out it was one voice actor!

Masterful and Fun
Revisado: 04-06-22
J. S. Morin is a fantastic author - both in the fantasy aspects and in his ability to draw you in and make you feel like you are with the characters. Mikael Naramore is amazing with the voices and dictation. (I only wish the music could have been actually sung!) After going through the Twinborn saga, I was not expecting the profanity, which was mildly jarring for 2 seconds, and then it was just the gang going on their adventures. I listen at 2-2.5 times normal speed, so it only took 40 hours to get through this story, but it felt like saying goodbye to friends I just spent a year gallavanting around with ... in the astral ...
This is a great successor to Firefly. (Coming from an uncle to a Dom and someone with several quotes all over water bottles and walls.)
Even better, when the book ended, it felt like Mort sent a special message my way, as I switched over to FM immediately after the book ended to hear "I'll stop the world and melt with you!" (You get it by the end!)

Historia
In this powerful audiobook, pastor, professor, and leading cultural apologist Voddie Baucham explains the sinister worldview behind the social justice movement and how it has quietly spread like a fault system, not only through our culture, but throughout the evangelical church in America. He also details the devastation it is already wreaking - and what we can do to get back on solid ground before it’s too late.

Fair and balanced view of race and wokeness
Revisado: 04-12-21
Voddie Baucham uses multiple sources and a scriptural basis for critiquing the current racial tensions and push for "social justice" (especially in the West, the US in particular) and compares it fairly and balanced with compassion with what the Bible says. This was very informative and educational.
