Historia
Jim Hampton arrived in New Orleans, eager to escape the stress of quitting a lucrative law practice. Instead, he finds a city on edge as a tropical depression brews in the Gulf. The storm appears to be dredging up the odd and unusual like shells from the ocean floor. Shadowy figures appear in alleyways; mysterious voices seem to come from nowhere. Jim is skeptical of the locals' claims that these are warnings from victims of past storms. He had all but given up on belief in the supernatural. That is until he meets Myriam, who begins to restore the faith of his childhood.

A Surprising Story!
Revisado: 07-04-24
Intercessor is a unique story that doesn’t follow formula in the way that so many suspense stories do. This book reads (listens?) as much like a supernatural thriller as it does an exploration of rediscovering faith. Both the main character, Jim, and his antagonist/villain undergo huge personal transformations, making this book surprising even when you think you know where it is going. John Still paints vivid images of New Orleans and Louisiana, and narrator Jonathan Beville convincingly runs an emotional and psychological gamut in this well performed book.

Historia
When Bernd Heinrich decided to write a memoir of his ultramarathon running experience, he realized that the preparation for the race was as important, if not more so, than the race itself. In Why We Run, Heinrich considers the flight endurance of birds, the antelope's running prowess and limitations, and the ultra-endurance of camels to understand how human physiology can or cannot replicate these adaptations. Heinrich offers an original and provocative work combining the rigors of science with the passion of running.

Fascinating Read for Runners and Non-Runners alike
Revisado: 10-01-23
This was a fascinating book (more science and personal journey) than running. The authors love and fascination with nature shines through in ever chapter. Not only did this book and its narrator keep me interested and entertained, I learned something in just about every chapter. I'm not a runner, but I do enjoy a morning walk in the woods. Listening to this book, I find myself looking at the animals I get a chance to see in an entirely different way. "What can you do?" and "How do you do it."

Nees At His Darkest and Best, a GREAT Audiobook.
Revisado: 05-17-23
This book is the 6th installment in the Dan Stone / Assassin Series, and it is by far the darkest and deepest of the series. Scorpion gains speed quickly and doesn’t let up till the very end! This book also ties up many unresolved questions in the series, while leaving the door open for more. Scorpion revisits characters and themes (sometimes only in memory) from previous books, making the world of its hero far more three dimensional and real. Scorpion stands on its own, providing enough context to the series that a new listener could start from here without feeling lost.
Narrator Jonathan Beville makes every character lifelike and unique, delivering this book with intensity and feeling. Listening to this book is the next best thing to being there.

A Climactic Act III
Revisado: 03-24-23
The third part of Robert Kroese's Mammon series is a climactic Act III that kept me listening and on the edge of my seat. This book mixes personal, familial, political, and professional intrigue, and each of the story lines carries its own weight coming together well in the end. I enjoyed each book in this series both for the stories themselves and for the performance and delivered by narrator Jonathan Beville.

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Loved this. Started with book 3 not realizing it was part of a series. Going back to book one, I liked it even more knowing where the series ended. Excellently performed by Zachary Quinto, whose style and nuance is perfectly suited to first person main character.

Well Performed, but two dimensional
Revisado: 01-16-23
Overall not a bad a book, but not one to remember either. The story is often predictable and two dimensional, but nevertheless entertaining. If you are looking for a mindless listen, this fits the bill. Very well narrated by Jonathan Beville.

The Narrator Makes the Difference
Revisado: 09-12-22
Ok, so this was a solid premise for a James Patterson novel, but not Patterson at his finest. It's solid, don't get me wrong, just not what you expect from someone with his reputation--I mean the man has a Master Class for crying out loud. That said, I think the narrator picked up where the author left off, adding life and credibility to a story that wasn't quite up to par. Definitely worth a listen, just temper your expectations a bit.

Someone make this into a movie!!!
Revisado: 08-16-22
This book has movie written all over it. Two serial killers in two countries with the same MO, and an international team of investigators trying to stop them before the next body is found! This book balances action, investigation, and character development very well. The narrator does a great job bringing the characters to life, and boy does he have range! I listened to this book after listening to another book read by the same narrator, and the characters are totally unique and lifelike! This is the first in the series, and I'm excited to start the next one right away! Couldn't put this one down.
