Acerca de esta escucha

In the tradition of Michael Crichton and Margaret Atwood comes this apocalyptic thriller that pits cutting-edge science against God and asks, who will win?

A strange phenomenon is sweeping the globe. People are having visions, seeing angels, experiencing events that defy reality. Bizarre accounts pour in from distant places: a French teenager claims to have witnessed Joan of Arc being burned at the stake; a man in New York dies of malnutrition in a luxurious Central Park apartment; a fundamentalist Christian sect kidnaps and murders a geneticist.

Then there is the graffiti We Are Becoming that has popped up in every major city around the world, in every language. And everywhere people are starting to talk about John Astor, the mysterious author of the book that seems to be at the center of it all.

After a rash of suicides around the world by individuals experiencing time-traveling hallucinations, psychiatrist John Macbeth and a team of FBI agents and scientists assemble to find out what's going on before it's too late. Is this a spiritual phenomenon - or something more sinister?

Would you try another book from Christopher Galt and/or Ray Porter?

I would just for the fact that this novel was a fun exploration of ideas related to the simulation hypothesis of our reality.

What did you like best about this story?

The story was less interesting than the philosophical exposition. The characters were somewhat flat, without personality. The novel is essentially an excuse to explore the simulation hypothesis of cosmology through the form of a thin narrative. The vast majority of the content in this novel falls under one of two categories: 1.) Cataloguing hallucination experiences; 2.) Expository dialog about quantum physics and philosophy.

Did Biblical: A Novel inspire you to do anything?

Not really. If these ideas were new to you, this book might blow your mind. However, as a student of this kind of thing, I found that I saw the ending coming half way through.

Any additional comments?

I would like to see these authors dive deeper into these waters but to focus more on showing their story through character, plot, and developments rather than couching it so intensely in exposition.

Fascinating ideas, questionable novel?

good to very good. The story was good, the narrator was excellent, got heavy toward the last

great concept

Amazing and very real possibilities, in my opinion.

Superstition+Time=Science

This book exists at the magical, hair-thin intersection of science, technology, dogma, superstition, and faith.

I have never read ANYTHING like it.

Essencially, Existentialism Debunked!

That was a crazy ride! I was totally engrossed from beginning to end. I must find more of Galt’s work!

I honestly think that the bad reviews are just from religious folk... also it's not difficult to understand like some say. It's beautifully written and there are so many chapters that could stand out as their own short story. Really just a great philosophical sci fi book.

Don't listen to bad reviews please

Little disjointed, a few too many moving parts and some pretty big loose ends made this only ok. I’m a big Ray Porter fan and he did it justice. I’m glad it’s Included vs a credit but not a bad read overall. I could see it as a movie story line more so than a book.

It was ok

I found this book very interesting and enjoyable, however, I found the title to be highly deceptive as this book had absolutely ZERO to do with anything remotely Biblical. "The Awakening" would have been a much better title. Thanks for the well written Science Fiction!

NOT BIBLICAL!

This is a complex novel with many technological theories. It is a good novel but not to be well liked if you have no grasp of science and technology. Asimov would love this.

Techno Junky Book

Ray Porter nailed the narration. The story is creative and really engaging. The first time the author pulls the trick that repeats throughout the book, I actually paused to tell a friend "you HAVE to check out this book." It got a little too out there towards the end, and the ending is a touch predictable, but I still really enjoyed it overall and would recommend.

Really engaging, a bit disappointed at the end

I enjoyed this book. I learned many things about the mind, time, and quantum science. All over my head but very interesting. This story was not the usual suspects. It was unique and disturbingly original with truthful aspects. Meaning it was scary and believable at the same time which makes it great storytelling. I recommend it if you are tired of the ordinary storytelling.
