Historia
The prestigious Legionnaire Academy of Du Gok Bhong—an institution centuries old and one I never thought I'd qualify for, much less attend. Yet here I am, a Gold Bracket contender and 8th Tier Core Realm Cultivator, starship-bound to compete with the thousands of other tributes from the occupied colony worlds across the stars. For most, it's a death sentence. For me, it's my one chance to gain the imperial status I need to liberate the Earth and marry the girl I love.

Great new age fantasy
Revisado: 02-19-25
the hallmarks of classic fantasy from a true fan. however, it also shows some real inventiveness. J.m. doesn't use the old staples of drawves and elves. he actually uses his imagination to create his own unique world. that made the book much more fun to read. The actual story can get somewhat repetitive. our main character is running from his ultimate reasonability for the whole novel but it's saved by strong character work.

Historia
So it turns out overthrowing a 14,000-year-old cultivation empire is going to take longer than I expected, but I've made a great start. I've broken through to the Core Realm of my hidden Berserker art, established a new Terran Sect, and even discovered a tribe of lost Terrans out in the wild. There's a whole lot more at stake and even more people to save, but that's all the more reason to free the Earth from the empire's control. Not everyone is thrilled about my progression, however.

Anime and 80s action in perfect harmony
Revisado: 09-15-24
This second book was just as captivating as the first. The superb action keeps rising. the author gave much needed chapters to Max's new opponents. this really helped ground the book and show just what Mas and humanity are facing. I can't wait to read the 3rd novel

Historia
When the cultivators came to Earth, they destroyed our entire civilization in a matter of hours. Armies fell, cities burned, and that was before the moon turned red and filled our world with monsters. Now, over a decade later, what's left of humanity slaves under the heels of our Qi-infused masters. The luckiest of us might even become one of them, they say—if we serve the Dynasty well enough and harness the power of Qi. But I want none of that. I'm sick of serving, and I want nothing to do with their world. Instead, I want them to pay for what they did to mine.

This was such an action packed novel. whenever a fight scene happened I couldn't help but think back to Saturday morning cartoons and the great martial arts movies of my youth. The stroy that came with it was also quite well done. I can't wait to read the sec9nd and third books in this series.

Ashok is creeping up my favorite fantasy character list
Revisado: 07-16-24
I think this series has gotten better with each publication. the second novel at the moment is my least favorite. I just thought a lot of that book was filler but I like how the author has tied in those events to make this entry that much better. It ain't fantasy without great battles and the battles here have stepped up the scoop of the world in a realistic and fun way.
I'm a big fan of Correias monster hunters series that is the only reason I picked up this series. I think if he sticks the landing here the forgotten sun's will be the superior series.

Black fantasy is rising
Revisado: 06-13-24
I found this book after seeing it recommended to me by other black youtubers. I'm glad I read this novel. the landscape for fantasy staring black men as heroes is bare to be kind. This is one more hero who looks like me that shows his hidden power. As a Haitian it's also nice to see the 1st black republic portrayed as the shining light of hope.
Some things I didn't like. Well Malik starts off as a very unlikeable person. He's stealing cars and putting on a victim mentality while whining. This put upon mentality and distrust lasts for 90% of the novel. it makes it harsh to root for someone who wants to be disliked.
Most of the cast it teenagers so it understandable that they act like kids. I just don't like teenagers. that's a me problem. The other bit I didn't like was a lack of Father son relationships. I was hoping I'd see a good portrayl of black fatherhood but that didn't happen.

Absolutely fantastic afro fantasy
Revisado: 03-12-24
I loved this book. it's an excellent continuation from the first and I think better in many way. my favorite character is still Danzo but Lilongwe made a strong case in her chapters. I thought a few times too many characters were getting the focus becuase I really wanted to see Danzo and Lilong. I really want Danzo to find someone who respects him.( I don't think Lilong actually does. at least she doesn't act like it.) I was relieved to see Danzo take more initiative and make his own decisions. He better be okay or the next book is getting 1 star review from me.
The red Emperor is a great villian. she has no conscience and thinks leadership and faer mean the same thing. she's the first child murderer I've seen revel in her wrong doing. she's written so well that I always enjoy seeing what new travesty she'll do that will create more enemies.
Overall I loved this book and hope the 3rd installment cones sooner rather than later.

I was worried this book wouldn't have the fun of the first book. this book I'm happy to say was better than the first. I thinkn what set this book apart was the chapters we spend with sovereign. getting to see life from the bad guys point of view really made this book so much more interesting.

story moved along at a good pace and some of the magic was very good and fresh. I appreciate that the dragons have their own unique society and religion. that I haven't seen in any dragon story.

Revisado: 11-16-23
I thought some of these stories were just okay but some were absolutely spectacular. my favorites were after the victory and integration. dark sci-fi dozen well can just make you think about the possibilities. I see so.much potential in mecha sub-genre now that I've read this anthology.
