wasn't for me
Revisado: 06-13-23
I have enjoyed other Brown books in the past, but this one fell short for me. I didn't really connect with any of the characters, and the romance seemed a bit flat to me.

I don't often leave reviews
Revisado: 06-08-23
I have a tendency to just do the star rating and go about my day.
But oh my goodness I LOVED this book.
The narrator, the storyline, the characters.
If you're looking for a solid southern women's fiction book that will leave you with all the comforting feel good vibes, listen to it!!

Great start to a series
Revisado: 05-13-23
I really enjoyed the storyline of this book. I sometimes struggle with books that are told through different POV, but the author did a great job with it. Selly is a fantastic character, and I'm looking forward to her growth throughout the series. The one thing that I didn't love about listening to the book on here was the different voice actors. Normally, I like it when there are multiple actors. Due to the story being read through different POV, the voices for the characters were constantly changing, which made it confusing to figure out who was who. For example, if it was Leanders POV then Sellys voice was done by that actor in that chapter. But then during Keegans POV Sellys voice would be done by that actor. It took me put of the story because I was continuously trying to figure out who was who because the voices were constantly changing for each character depending on the POV.
Overall, I highly recommend this book. I may get the hardcopy for the next one if it is written in the same POV format and read by multiple actors.

Harriet and Wyn have been the perfect couple since they met in college—they go together like salt and pepper, honey and tea, lobster and rolls. Except, now—for reasons they’re still not discussing—they don’t. They broke up five months ago. And still haven’t told their best friends.

My new favorite Emily Henry book. Absolutely fantastic read. The writing, the characters, the romantic, friend, and family relationships. All of it was done wonderfully.

good tips, could be more in depth
Revisado: 06-30-22
this book has a lot of great tips and describes habits you can change to improve happiness. I also enjoyed the case studies he brought in at the end of chapters to show how that particular change helped a real person.
I was a little disappointed in the lack of depth though. I felt the majority of information I have already read or listened to in Atomic Habits as well as Jay Shetty podcasts.
I do believe this is still worth reading/listening to. He gives some great tools to help strengthen the relationship with yourself and lead you to a happier self.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Confused
Revisado: 03-25-22
I struggled all the way through this book. The only reason I finished it was because someone claimed it would "get better". In my opinion, it did not. I understand that the book follows a girl who raised herself in the marsh. But the writing just seemed overly dumbed down. And don't get me started on the cringeworthy s3xual moments. I am genuinely confused about the amount of high reviews for this book. It just didn't do it for me unfortunately.

During the languid days of the Christmas break, a group of 30-something friends from Oxford meets to welcome in the New Year together, a tradition they began as students 10 years ago. For this vacation, they’ve chosen an idyllic and isolated estate in the Scottish Highlands - the perfect place to get away and unwind by themselves. They arrive on December 30, just before a historic blizzard seals the lodge off from the outside world. Two days later, on New Year’s Day, one of them is dead.

Good book but just like The Guest List
Revisado: 01-06-21
I read The Guest List first and absolutely loved it so I was excited when I saw she had written this one as well. The similarities were almost frustratingly too close. It was like I was reading the same book with slight differences. I don't know if this was meant to be like this but it didn't quite make sense to me that she would write basically the same storyline twice. I would still recommend this book but I did enjoy The Guest List more, probably because I read that one first.

Disappointed
Revisado: 12-02-20
I made it to the end of "Book 3" and stopped.
None of the characters were super interesting to me and there is constant random and unnecessary sexual undertones which just got annoying after awhile.
I stuck with the book because I was intrigued about what was living underground. When the big reveal came and you get a full description of what it is I literally said out loud, "are you kidding me?!". One of the biggest letdowns ever.
And for all of you saying the narrator was fantastic... like what?! I literally couldn't stop myself from laughing every single time he did a women's voice. I mean he did great with men in the book but the women's voices were just so incredibly bad. I felt it took me even further out of the story.
