Cool concept, extremely boring first episode
Revisado: 03-22-25
The concept was interesting to me, I love the idea of this tabletop game. But my god, this is a slog. I'm an hour in, about halfway through the first episode. It has all the excitement of watching a small group move into a dorm. They spend SO MUCH TIME on uninteresting minutiae. An hour in and nothing has actually happened yet, but I know what kinds of breakfast foods the characters enjoy, and which dorm rooms they're going to be living in. In other words, an hour in and there is no plot. I'm half expecting the next hour to be following the characters as they shop for socks, or do some chores.
And that Grey guy is super annoying. Even with all the boring minutiae, this episode would be a lot better without him. Seems like the kind of player who likes to throw a wrench in the spokes just to make life harder for the DM.
On top of all that, it seems that the players won't even be superheroes in this superhero game. They're players playing regular people who will be playing a superhero video game.
I'm going to push through this episode, but if nothing interesting happens, I won't move on the episode two.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Truly Underrated Story
Revisado: 06-10-23
First off, I am an unapologetic fan of the movie. To this day, I'll never understand why people give this movie flack. Batman gets a new movie every five minutes, but folks can't wait to bury every Superman film that comes out, which isn't that often.
If you're like me, you'll love this audiobook. it takes the story and expands on it. You get details you never got in the film, and innermonologues that give deeper insight into the motivations of the characters.
MINOR SPOILERS BELOW!!!
If you weren't a fan of the movie, one of my least favorite parts (or lack thereof) might be your favorite: they seem to have dropped the storyline of Superman's son. I rather liked that part, but it's absence isn't a dealbreaker for me. But if that part of the movie was a gripe of yours, this might help redeem the story for you.
Regardless of other people's opinions, I loved the movie, and I loved this book.

Who uploaded this??
Revisado: 05-26-22
why are the episodes out of order? Episode 2 is labeled Episode 10. Episode 3 is labeled Episode 9. etc.
I'd enjoy it a lot more if I knew what order to watch them in.
Good podcast, but the order of episodes is bonkers.

Historia
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

Flawed but Entertaining
Revisado: 09-28-21
The story was alright, maybe not the best, but good. The characters were pretty good, and I enjoyed it overall.
King, with his old age, has lost touch with the youth of today, and it shows in his strange dialogue choices. He remains present with the zeitgiest though, so certain things can be overlooked.
The performance of the narrator was alright. There were a few odd choices, as far as character voice and inflection goes, but he wasn't bad either.
It might not have been my favorite King novel, but it was pretty good.

Some say that to change the world you must first burn it down. Now that belief will be tested in the crucible of revolution: The Breakers and Burners have seized the levers of power, the smoke of riots has replaced the smog of industry, and all must submit to the wisdom of crowds. With nothing left to lose, Citizen Brock is determined to become a new hero for the new age, while Citizeness Savine must turn her talents from profit to survival before she can claw her way to redemption.

I Have Chills
Revisado: 09-25-21
Yet another masterpiece!
Every book in this series is better than the last. Joe Abercrombie has woven together a story that kept me riveted from The Blade Itself to The Wisdom of Crowds.
The narration, masterfully spoken by the unmatched Steven Pacey, couldn't have been more perfect. every character had their own distinctive voice. His pacing and style of storytelling is like no other.
I really hope this isn't the end of The First Law.

Not Bad

This book isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. I rather enjoyed it myself. The narrator was great. It might not be King's best, but it's really not that bad either.

Zero is just one of 20,000 people aboard a spaceship bound for a new planet set to be colonized. The journey is over a century long but luckily, everyone is in stasis, so they’ll be safe and sound asleep during the trip. Everyone that is, except for Zero, whose pod has malfunctioned, waking him up a hundred years early. His initial excitement in roaming the ship alone quickly turns to a heart-stopping interstellar adventure when a family of space pirates show up, trying to hijack the ship and take the colonizers hostage.
