Historia
The body that turns up in Bron's garden has been there for decades, and he died of natural causes. Just rebury him and carry on as normal, right? But it's kinda hard to be normal when the ghost of the dead man has been disturbed, and now he want...well, just what does he want? It's down to Bron, a traditional hedge witch, to find out. If she doesn't, that ghost is going to be lingering in corners and upsetting kitchen chairs for the rest of her life. Creepy, tedious, and noisy, all at the same time.

Not as silly as some books in this genera& a bit dark
Revisado: 04-23-25
This story was better than expected, has a more realistic attitude about magic, spirituality & folklore & gave that small village feeling.

Better than expected & funny too.
Revisado: 04-03-25
A bit slow to start but better than expected, funny & has some originality that I really enjoy.
Unlike many books in this niche it manages to break free of the cookie cutter plot line that so many of them follow.
Some books like this are so alike that I can not even keep them straight in my head, they all bleed into one blurry story that gets boring & old.
I like my listening time to be silly & fun; brain candy stories that are individual works not a replay of every other plot in this small genere. These books are my new relaxation set.

Historia
Exiled, excommunicated, and with a bounty on his head, Athelas is lying low in Seoul for exactly one reason: he has a wedding to attend. Whether or not he's welcome is another matter. Luckily for Athelas, several bodies have turned up with their soft insides gnawed out, whether by magic or Behindkind—and the latest of those bodies is at the very wedding hall he has been staking out. The Behindkind investigators suspect one of Athelas's housemates: YeoWoo, a gumiho with a thirst for revenge and an even greater appetite for soft underbelly than Athelas.

Too much Machiavellian Plotting & not enough Pet
Revisado: 03-25-25
Not as good as the previous series because it lacked the balance character set that I was accustomed to. With 2 cold & selfish leads the Machiavellian plotting was a bit much & I lost interest. Add to that the fact that we only get to see Pet & Zero through the Stuard's eyes briefly...it just didn't live up.

Historia
Ashley Perrin is fresh out of college and starting a job as a community liaison for the Third District–the city’s only sector with more alien residents than humans. Ashley’s barely found where the paper clips are kept when she’s beset with constituent complaints–from too much noise at the Annual Lupidian Celebration Parade to a trip-and-fall chicken to a very particular type of alien hornet that threatens the very city itself. And if that’s not terrifying enough, Ashley is next up at the office karaoke night.

Historia
Two fae is company, but a company of fae is trouble. Which is exactly what we've got. Trouble, I mean. Well, and fae. Lots of fae. Something or someone is stalking and killing high-level fae around Hobart-tearing out hearts and leaving a trail of bloody bodies behind. Fae don't like it when they're the ones getting killed, so of course they came to hire my owners. Owners, you ask? Hi. I'm Pet. No, that's not my name. I am a pet. My owners? They're fae. Well, two fae and one stroppy vampire. Welcome to the world Between.

When you get up in the morning, the last thing you expect to see is a murdered guy hanging outside your window. Things like that tend to draw the attention of the local police, and when you're squatting in your parents' old house until you can afford to buy it, another thing you can't afford is the attention of the cops. Oh yeah. Hi. My name is Pet. It's not my real name, but it's the only one you're getting.

Revisado: 04-06-24
At first the narrators high-pitched nasally voice was off putting, but I got used to it pretty quickly & the farther along the story goes the better it gets. By the end I was totally ready to jump into book 2.

There's a body beneath the skip bins. Fae on the forklift. A vampire in the manager's office. And there's definitely something skeevy going on in the locker rooms. Hi. I'm Pet. Well, not exactly Pet. Revisado: 04-06-24
I like strange fiction & mysteries & this series has both. It took me a little while to get used to the narrators high-pitched nasally voice but once I got used to it I found it fit the main character perfectly. I enjoyed the adventure & the layers of reality concepts involved in the story. I will definitely listen to the next book in this series.

Historia
Omnians, Earthers, and alliance members are fighting the Colony, the horde of sentient insectoids that threaten alliance space. The Colony has had centuries to expand through the network of domes built by the Messinants, an ancient race. The domes’ Q-gates allow the insectoids to invade planets through their inventive use of rings, which extends the power of the domes. It’s Omnian superior technology that gives a temporary advantage to the peaceful alliance members who lead the fight to retake their planets.

Poor Narrating Ruins this Book - Unlistenable
Revisado: 02-28-24
I guess I will not finish this series.
I hate it when new narrators can't be bothered to listen to at least one book buy their predecessor.
Pronunciations need to be consistent ... starting at book 15 names of people & places are constantly being miss pronounced.... leaves you mentally correcting them every time you listen & really breaks up the flow of the experience.
At book 15 they changed Narrators from the wonderful Grover Gardener to Susanna Burney who's performance is passable once you get used to the change.
But then from book 16 on they have changed to Nicole Poole who's reading is a stilted, tedious, muddy mess & very hard to listen to.
I whish I had paid for this book with a credit instead of cash because now I cannot even return it.

Historia
Concerned that technology is about to chase mythological creatures out into the open (how long can Sasquatch stay hidden from Google maps?), the League for Interspecies Cooperation is sending Jillian to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission. While the League hopes to hold on to secrecy for a little bit longer, they're preparing for the worst in terms of human reactions. They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations.

Fun & entertaining & I don't even like romance
Revisado: 11-03-23
A nice universe to visit & though there is some romance there is also community, silliness & intrigue.
I can't stomach romance just for its own sake: there has to be a whole story with other characters & mystery, creatures & snarky humor. The narrators do a good job & the dialog is comes off surprising natural.
This series is my new self care indulgence, taking me completely away from the stress of daily life.

Way better than expected for this type of story
Revisado: 10-21-23
I got this book when I was bored & looking for some fun brain candy to destress. I had started several other books in this genre without much luck because I'm not much into romance & they were all so similar that I kept getting them mixed up. I never finished any of those but this one had unique characters who actually had brains & witty personalities, they were entertaining. It was a fun universe & I was able to tolerate the romance because the rest of the story was amusing.
