Classic but …

This is a classic tale that is quoted in part by a lot of other authors, and I felt like I should read it because of its status. Unfortunately, the book is long, dry, and not exceptionally entertaining. In fact, it’s quite sad the way he’s treated, which is the point of the tail but not one that I enjoyed listening to.

Facts for days

There really is no story here, no plot, it’s just a collection of facts about the universe. I was confused by the title. That said, all of the facts and information are presented logically and in an easy to understand manner for any high schooler or above.

Predictable

It’s not a bad book, but it is predictable. I knew the killer early on, the attempts to throw a red herring into the story were weak, but I still enjoyed the story.

Let down

After the first few books in the series was so amazing, developing the character, his abilities, and ultimately creating a great story. This book focuses purely on the fighting for 26 hours. There’s no real story here. It ends with a cliffhanger that should’ve been settled. And was an overall letdown for the series.

There was nothing in this book I found redeemable. From the character descriptions which focused one dimensionally to the process of saving the world being like a bad rip of stranger in a strange land.

Slow cozy and amusing

The main character doesn’t explain his past very well, but picking up with the present and moving forward you watch the very thing unfold in a fun and unexpected way that just make sense, and provides enough action that you find yourself wanting more by the time the book ends.

Escape goes to weird

It starts unbelievable but with a premise, then it becomes like a Saw movie, which is understandable from the description. It’s the last few chapters that take a weird turn, and just make you feel like it slipped into a Silent Hill video game that don’t belong.

Boring read

Too much exposition, boring battles, and no real character growth. The character simply accepts everything that is happening to him, and his "mentor" acts more like a exposition machine describing the area, and its history, rather than truly train him or help him grow as a person.

Really enjoyed 1-4, but this book lost a step of two with the effects, the fights, the foes, and the main characters focus.
