This is just the first few chapters, abruptly cut off. You get some useless introduction, an overview of the types of businesses, then some oddly specific garbage about classified ads for government contracts, which is useless to me. Then Audible fallaciously thanks me for enjoying this.
I would get a refund and cancel my subscription, but I have already cancelled my subscription. Too many broken audio files wasting my time like this one.

I read most of this and stopped. It's an open letter to her husband and her critics, justifying verbal abuse and glossing over so many relationship issues bigger than one person's ADHD. If there is anything good in that last chapter, it's not worth trudging through the rest of the book. There are plenty of other good books written by real experts on the subject. I'm guessing all the good reviews are from people who found it relatable and liked the lack of accountability for one's own behavior, which this book promotes. (I'm talking about the non-ADHD partners here!)

This is the work of a phony. For a more interesting and informative book, read Unmasking Alice by Rick Emerson about the shameless production of Sparks’ books and the surprising impact they have had on America.

The ghost rider for this book, whoever it is, is clearly a master of their craft, because they wrote this entire book knowing about neither investing, nor cryptocurrency.

For investing, they said that the value of the US dollar is based on the price of gold. There was no differentiation between investing and speculating, and they conflated trading with swaps. They also said that Bitcoin was waiting for big retailers, like Best Buy, to adopt it as a payment method. Best Buy’s market cap is currently $30.8B. That would put it as #9 if it was on CoinMarketCap, or 1/28th the value of BTC. Absurd.

But “Branden Smith’s” ignorance really shines when it comes to crypto. I am certain they have never actually set up a wallet. There is no mention of seed phrases at all. No mention of staking or proof of stake. No mention of DeFi or store of value. No mention of VPNs. No mention of wallet addresses. Private keys are mentioned briefly, and it sounds like “Smith” believes they are physical keys used with hardware wallets. All crypto assets (“commodities” according to the author) are treated as if they were only methods of payment. The author does not seem to know that there is any other use, and the only difference between proof of work tokens and alt coins is their supply and transaction speed. We are told there are usually no transaction fees with cryptocurrency. We are encouraged to trust the exchanges and leave our tokens with them. We are told that almost nobody ever gets hacked, and when they do, the crypto community rises up to make everything right again.

Spend an hour with literally any other source of info, and you will be much better off.

This changed my views of Edward Snowden, Obama, and the New York Times. I hadn’t believed that our government was invading our privacy to such an extreme until this.

The reading was good, but the documents were not edited for audio. It wasn’t necessary to read every character and every redaction out loud. Those chapters were hard to get through, but overall, it was worth it.

A privileged man brags about his daughter learning to climb. She happened to be naturally good at it. There were no challenges, hardships, setbacks. You don't get to know her. It seems he doesn't even know her. What you do get are play-by-play accounts of climbs where something almost went wrong, but didn't. I don't understand how this interests anyone.

This is a well-researched, fascinating, and important work. It is suitable for the layperson in the sense that you don’t need a degree in European history to understand it. The untranslated French passages don’t seem to have been critical.

Here’s the “but”: The story gets buried in supporting details. The narrative is continually broken up by quotes. The effect is that it sounds like you are reading the footnotes. I had to slow down to 1x speed and still didn’t retain much, but it was definitely worth the effort. I can’t believe how much my history classes skipped. Thank you!

I couldn’t do this. It was hard enough trying to figure out what exercises were being described, let alone how to do them with good form, but it was set to loud music WITH LYRICS! I’m just not that kind of genius.

Any additional comments?

If you just want to try this, there is a free lesson available. If you decide to go for it, save up and buy the whole Level 1, Lessons 1-30. I bought this first, then I bought Level 1, thinking I could just get a refund for Lessons 1-5, since I have also paid for them in Level 1. Unfortunately, Audible doesn't allow this. I don't know why this is an exception to their return policy, but I feel much less comfortable buying from Audible now.

As it is, Lessons 1-5 won't give you enough Russian to get very far, and it's more expensive to buy them 5 at a time. It's a great method, and a great recording. The problem is really with the way it's sold.

Zig gives you the mindset of a good salesman better than any I've come across so far. Only problem is that this wasn't assembled carefully. Some material repeats, and Tom's little additions are inserted without any connection to the surrounding material. It would be great with half-decent editing.
