Excellent book covering such major issues around the world. Well-written and compelling. I never saw where it was going, which is always good in a read. Another great Jodi novel!

only one complaint...
Revisado: 03-06-23
The narrator was very... monotone. Hard to catch jokes, moods, escalation to anger, joy.... he was a flat reader. The story was just a little bit flat. But what I didn't find in action, I found in: educating myself on all the things they thought of! And in: kindness-- less violent or cruel people, and that was a nice change!

Historia
Whether romantic or platonic, changing relationships prove tricky for Rose, Tom, Clara, and Craig—never mind adapting to the new not-so-normal. Being surrounded by the undead is bad enough, but with a tyrant-in-training running their Safe Zone, it’s that much worse.

Revisado: 12-16-22
Loved it! Some love stories felt a bit drawn out, but still engaging. It's always hard to tell timelines: were they in the fairgrounds for a year, 6 months, or less? But, it doesn't matter, I'm a totally absorbed fan who can't wait for the next book!!!

Historia
Rose Winter has enough problems. With a marriage going down the tubes and a dreaded anniversary party on the horizon, the last thing she needs is the zombie apocalypse. She wanted to get drunk and sing karaoke, not murder her undead neighbors. It’s clear the party’s over, however, now Rose has more problems - a missing husband, an overbearing houseguest, and keeping her family alive.

Revisado: 12-12-22
I love all books by Sarah Lyons Fleming, but this one is fast becoming a favorite! I always love the depth of the characters she writes, as well as the storyline in general. It's easy to care about the people and what happens to them next. Can't wait for the final book(s?) in the series!

Heartbreaking but beautiful
Revisado: 11-30-22
I loved to learn about one couple and their struggle to live through the camps, find each other and live a full and loving life together. I won't lie-- it was an emotional struggle to hear about such tragedies that went on there, but it's critical for us to know and understand, and most importantly, to never forget

Jake invited five fellow cops and their families to join him and his family to set up a safe and secure retirement community in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. The families worked together to become self sufficient and off the grid, as they believed at some point in the not too distant future, something would happen to cause a major collapse and survival situation. Historia
When society ceases to exist, who can you trust? After the collapse of the nation's power grid, America is under martial law - and safety is an illusion. As violence erupts around him, Morgan Carter faces one of his most difficult decisions yet: whether to stay and defend his home, or move to a more isolated area, away from the prying eyes of the government. He and his family are hesitant to leave their beloved Lake County, but with increasingly suspicious activities happening in a nearby refugee camp, all signs point towards defecting.

very tech heavy
Revisado: 08-06-22
Early on: I liked the story overall, but the extreme focus on the gear ("I'm a gear head) felt like overkill...and without deeper explanation or emotion behind the meaning of a things meaning, usefulness or description
(*Spoiler alert*) and at the end of the book:
I was also confused by Morgan's character arc--he went from knowing everything and taking care of/knowing how to do ALL, to 100% listening to Sarge at all times...a very dominant and helpful charachter to a very submissive and almost needy character in one book. seemed... 'off' to who he was originally presented as.
And to go from a possible EMP/Survival story to a wild government takeover/torture containment camp story was, well, odd. unexpected and seemed like another way to talk 99% about gear and military. lost intest--I prefer survival stories, not war stories and it was switched up from suvival and gear to war and gear. Strange turn of events and it lost me.

If society collapsed, could you survive? When Morgan Carter's car breaks down 250 miles from his home, he figures his weekend plans are ruined. But things are about to get much, much worse: the country's power grid has collapsed. decent story but...
Revisado: 08-01-22
This reads most like a catalog of gear. the acronyms or very specific things stocked liked, needed, used, etc., at any
time. easy to lose interest when there is more gear described in highly detailed.
what plot there was these books (1 &2 ) were slow and overly detailed in time if gear, not character or plot.
I will say, well well narrated and I'm curious enough to listed to the next book, so I guess there is enough 'there' for me to keep listening to see what happens next...
