I liked it. A little woke for my taste, but not so much that it takes me out of yhe immersion.

A good continuation
Revisado: 02-01-24
I really enjoyed this continuation of the Peter V Brettiverse Demon Cycle.
If I do have one mild complaint it would be that I missed the voice work of Pete Bradbury. Not that the new narrators weren't great, because they were. Its just that after binging dozens of hours of the first 5 books, the voices of the characters take on a life of their own and having new voices speak through their "mouths" is a bit jarring. It kinda takes me out of that fantasy head space I get into when I am really into a story.

Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

A personal tragedy
Revisado: 11-23-20
Tragic that it took me 40-years to find this gem, hidden in plain sight...but rewarding

love it
Revisado: 11-18-20
As always Vance is an excellent narrator.
Each book gets a little more convoluted but still a grand adventure.
However, had I not read Northmen first this book wouldnt have tied together coherently enough for me. If I were the powers that be, I would have made the main books longer and tied that and any other side story into the main line.

Historia
Moira Illeniel was the name she lived by, but her true heritage was more complicated than that. From birth she was the secretly adopted daughter of the most powerful wizard in the world, but few knew that her true birthright came from the Centyr lineage. Traveling to Dunbar to discover the fate of her vanished father, Moira must face the darker aspects of her power. Forced to fight a foe unlike anything seen before in Lothion, she will learn the reason for the warnings her mother's shade gave her.

Historia
Pyrre Lakatur is not, to her mind, an assassin, not a murderer - she is a priestess. At least, she will be once she passes her final trial. The problem isn't the killing. The problem, rather, is love. For to complete her trial, Pyrre has ten days to kill the seven people enumerated in an ancient song, including "the one who made your mind and body sing with love / who will not come again." Pyrre isn't sure she's ever been in love.

A great spinoff/prequel to the Unhewn Throne Chronicles
Revisado: 08-06-18
I was dubious when I learned that the new UTC book was going to be a first person account of Pierre, the Skullsworn priestess of Ananshael, as I thought there was more intriguing characters to flesh out origin in like : Oshi and Nira, Rampuri Tan, Tan'is (Ran Il'Tornja), and for me most of all Kiel. In fact I think the 3 main stories are already being told by Kiel, and as the immortal and unimaginably old Csestriim historian, he should have a lot to talk about.
Anyway I ended up loving this stand alone story dispute my initial misgivings
