RL Mathewson did it again
Revisado: 02-26-25
Let me start by saying I loved this book! I am a huge fan of romance that has characters that are funny and quirky and this author always delivers. This book has main characters that are well developed and easy to relate to and like. I also like the fact that it wasn’t mushy romance but had a suspense element to it. The narrator was easy to listen to and did an excellent job with making the characters come to life for me. I felt at times I was there listening to these people conversations lol. I would definitely recommend this book!

Historia
Born to a prominent Chicago judge and his stifled socialite wife, Mia Dennett moves against the grain as a young inner-city art teacher. One night, Mia enters a bar to meet her on-again, off-again boyfriend. But when he doesn't show, she unwisely leaves with an enigmatic stranger. With his smooth moves and modest wit, Colin Thatcher seems at first like a safe one-night stand. But following Colin home will turn out to be the worst mistake of Mia's life.

I always Fall for the bad guy
Revisado: 10-06-22
I love this book, trying to figure out how the before and after connected together and beginning to care for these characters had be all kinds of twisted. I wasn’t expecting to cry (like full on ugly cry) in a portion of this book but the author managed to bring my emotions into it for sure.

Historia
I’ll lock her in a gilded cage and throw away the key. The night we met, she thought she was tasting freedom. I devoured her once and left before I even knew her name. Four months later, Bratva business leads me to the house of my enemy with one objective: Burn it down and kill everyone inside. That’s exactly what I plan to do. Until I find her cowering before me.

Author did no research to get basic facts down for the organizations centered in her book
Revisado: 05-10-22
It irked me that the author did not take the time to research the proper lingo and names for each of the criminal organizations she wrote about. She called the leader of each group “Don” even though she mainly had Mexican Cartels and Russian Bratva at the center of the story while lightly mentioning the Irish and Italian mafias. For the record:
Mexican Cartels are ran by Drug Lords or Capos with Lieutenants under them
The Mexican Mafia operates on a paramilitary structure complete with a President and Vice President.
The Bratva is like a Russian mafia also known as the “brotherhood” they are ran by a leader called the Pakhan and second in command is the brigadier.
Irish mafia usually are referred to as “The family” or “Clan” is led by a boss aka captain and second in command is the clan chief
The terms this author used so loosely is truly from Italian gangster/mafia movies she’s seen with the Boss/leader being the Don or godfather and second in command being the underboss.
Other than being an avid reader of Bratva romance novels I spent all of 10 minutes double checking on google to make sure I wasn’t way off base. Please do the same if you are writing about a topic you are unfamiliar with. I cringed every-time this book referred to the Pakhan as Don. I only finished the book because I spent money on it and not just a saved up credit.

I knew the fork in the road was inevitable; it was the decision I never wanted to make between choices I didn't know I had. And I love them both. My heart is destined to exist in two equal halves - one with each man. But one half beats stronger, the vein running deepest, and holds my choice in silence long before I know it for myself. The realization of what I have to do, of the heart I have to break, just might break mine, too.

I wish I would have stopped at the first book
Revisado: 04-13-22
The narrators did an awesome job. I’m an avid reader and it’s very rare I can’t appreciate a book ending and find something in it that I can at least understand, but in book one the picture of Camron was printed pretty clearly and the hurts he caused was obvious, however in book two the author back pedaled and was like nope just kidding I changed my mind. It truly rubbed me the wrong way and I didn’t find it very realistic at all that so much was miscommunication (hello he didn’t communicate at all she was a roommate and felt like a burden to him)
I related to her (Charlie) in book 1, I hurt for her, I wanted for her happiness and a fresh start, but by the end of this book I just wanted to be finished with her. She made everything unnecessarily hard, drug everything out dramatically, and turned into a whiny female.
May be an unpopular opinion but I feel like Reese deserved much better from the author and deserves better than Charlie.

Worst Narrator I’ve ever heard
Revisado: 02-05-19
This book would have been decent had the narrator not been so horrible. It was as if she wasn’t a fluent reader but a robot and this was the first time she’d ever read the story. I have listened to 200+ audible books and this narrator was the worst I’ve ever heard. If she was used as the narrator for the rest of the series I won’t be purchasing them.

Historia
Ripley's a tomboy at heart who has never met a stranger. Her plans were to finish her veterinary studies and take her family to the country, where life wouldn't be such a struggle. She thought the worst she'd have to deal with at the University of Maryland were the unwelcome advances and attitudes of affluent students, and the occasional East Coast hurricane. She never expected the sun to fall down.

I really enjoyed this series
Revisado: 11-06-18
I have listened to both books in this series and really enjoeyed them. I have read all the EMP and post apocalyptic books I can get my hands on with my husband. While he had a hard time getting into this story and connecting with the college characters I found I liked it thrown in....I do wonder if the author is a female (not knowing what D. Stands for and not having researched it Im not making assumptions)

Marybeth still couldn't believe that she'd survived this long with a friend like Darrin, but somehow she'd managed to beat the odds and not give in to temptation and smother him with a pillow while he slept. Of course some days were more difficult than others.... For 20 years he's been biding his time, waiting for the right moment to make his move, and now that she was finally his, he had to do everything in his power to keep her, even if it meant making a decision that would tear them apart and force her to face the truth.

Another awesome “NFH” book
Revisado: 07-23-18
I want to start off by saying I almost didn’t give this book a chance because a review said there was death in the book (completely inaccurate information) and it broke their heart BUT being addicted to the Bradford men I had to see what happened and I’m glad I did. No only was that review false information but the book ended with a HEA like the previous books in the series I’ve read. Only trouble now is deciding which Bradford male is my favorite lol.

Morgan and his extended family could see the light at the end of the tunnel, dim though it may be. There was the promise of power once again. The plant was being repaired, and it looked as though it may actually run. While it meant lots of hard, sweaty work, the reward was worth the investment. The farm was growing strong, and community involvement was good. People were finally coming to terms with the fact that they needed to work together. So far Mother Nature had been on their side. But that, too, was about to change.

My husband and I both love this Series written by A. American. Duke Fontaine has quickly became one of our favorite narrators as well. Through out this series we have come to know and love the characters written so well by the author and brought to life by the narrator. My favorite has to be "Sarge". We eagerly await the next book.
