Historia
Between 1861 and 1865, the clash of the greatest armies the Western hemisphere had ever seen turned small towns, little-known streams, and obscure meadows in the American countryside into names we will always remember. In those great battles, those streams ran red with blood-and the United States was truly born.

excellent history
Revisado: 07-06-17
I really enjoyed this course. The level of detail was excellent.don't you have enjoyed this program two times now both times it was thoroughly interesting and engaging. there is a great historical narrative along with lots of interesting biographical notes and more broader contextual information and explanations. The professor is engaging and obviously very well-studied on the topic. he seems to really know the topic well. I love history and this is one of my favorite audiobook courses that I have listened to.

Historia
Prize-winning historian and biographer, Carolly Erickson has created an eminently readable biography that recognizes the humanity of Great Catherine—Empress of Russia—with her majesty and immense capability. Dispelling some of the myths surrounding her voracious sexual appetite, the biographer portrays Catherine as a lonely woman far ahead of her time—achieving greatness in an era when women were executed on a husband’s whim.

Not profound
Revisado: 05-12-16
This biography was at its best in its first chapters detailing the early life and rise to power. However I left with little understanding of this period of Russian history. There was far too little historical context. The author was very very reverent of this figure; to the pint where the details of her life grew tiresome.

Historia
The fateful quarter-century leading up to World War I was a time when the world of privilege still existed in Olympian luxury and the world of protest was heaving in its pain, its power, and its hate. The age was the climax of a century of the most accelerated rate of change in history, a cataclysmic shaping of destiny.

A little aimless
Revisado: 05-11-16
There are some interesting details on this book. However it meanders and stays put on some less crucial interactions that left me a little bored.

Great twists. Not quite as good as presumption
Revisado: 01-20-15
This good ultimately develops to be exciting and interesting. However the character development and psychology, while interesting, drags it down a bit. I thought the reader's voice was less pleasant than others I have heard.

Historia
Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his Black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

Very exciting and interesting. As a lawyer, I enjoyed the legal details. But it doesn't interfere with the pace. Totally entertaining and socially relevant.
