Historia
Too few people attending church today, even those in evangelical churches, are exposed to the gospel explicitly. Sure, many will hear about Jesus, and about being good and avoiding bad, but the gospel message simply isn't there--at least not in its specificity and its fullness. Inspired by the needs of both the overchurched and the unchurched, and bolstered by the common neglect of the explicit gospel within Christianity, Matt Chandler has written this punchy treatise.

Historia
In an era in which many Christians consider Jesus a beloved but remote savior, Willard argues compellingly for the relevance of God to every aspect of our existence. Masterfully capturing the central insights of Christ's teachings in a fresh way for today's seekers, he helps us to explore a revolutionary way to experience God by knowing him as an essential part of the here and now, rather than only as part of the hereafter.

Transformational
Revisado: 05-28-19
This is my third time through the book. I would highly recommend multiple reads because this book is so deep, for me at least, each time through I gain greater insight and pick up more gems that I had previously missed. On my first read initially, I found the book difficult to get into but by my second time around immediately I was connecting the points he was making. The expository on the sermon on the mount illuminated truths I have never seen in my own studies of Matthew. It has set me on a search for more of Dallas Willard's teachings.

Historia
On July 30, 1945, the USS Indianapolis was torpedoed in the South Pacific by a Japanese submarine. An estimated 300 men were killed upon impact; close to 900 sailors were cast into the Pacific Ocean, where they remained undetected by the navy for nearly four days and nights. Battered by a savage sea, they struggled to stay alive, fighting off sharks, hypothermia, and dementia. By the time rescue arrived, all but 317 men had died. The captain's subsequent court-martial left many questions unanswered

Great Book of a story that needed to be told in a compassionate approach. As an Army Viet Nam Vet, I considered the Navy’s demand on their enlisted somewhat less than the contribution required by those of us who served in the Army ground forces’. After reading this account and identifying with the armed service’s bureaucratic screw-ups so magnified in the fog of war, I’ve corrected my condescending attitude realizing we were all placed in harm’s way regardless which branch of the service we served. The book touched me deeply in a place buried in the past.

Historia
Americans have built an empire on the idea of “race”, a falsehood that damages us all but falls most heavily on the bodies of Black women and men - bodies exploited through slavery and segregation and, today, threatened, locked up, and murdered out of all proportion. What is it like to inhabit a Black body and find a way to live within it? And how can we all honestly reckon with this fraught history and free ourselves from its burden? Between the World and Me is Ta-Nehisi Coates’ attempt to answer these questions in a letter to his adolescent son.

Provocatively revealing my own privileged white male racial biases and careless assumptions of blundering racial stereotypes. This is a must-read for all like me raised in an all-white environment to understand why we all must challenge our unreasoned perspectives
