Sad and interesting

I loved this book. It showed a side of life that most people would never imagine. Some parts were very hard to hear & made me cry, but I thought it was a captivating story with an interesting twist. Highly recommend!

Historia
In the final chapter of the Tucker series, David Johnson introduces us to a new family – a family in need of the kind of help that only Tucker and her family can give. Benjamin Trevathan, who has Asperger’s Syndrome, and a speech impediment, is a boy saddled with adult responsibilities in the midst of his dysfunctional home. He provides the majority of care for his younger siblings and for his mother who is sick with cancer. His stepfather stays gone for days and weeks on drinking binges, only to come home to take out his anger and frustration on his family. This family’s nomadic life...

Good story with relevant issues
Revisado: 02-17-24
First of all, this was narrated with virtual voice. I must say that I am NOT a fan of that. It made it harder to enjoy the story or feel it because of mispronunciation, lack of emotion, tone, etc. I won't get another book with this narration. That being said, I did enjoy this book & love the series. The ending could have been better. It just kind of stopped without much explanation. I would recommend this book, but I would definitely read it, not listen with virtual voice.

Historia
On a stifling summer day, an old Chevy Impala ignored the warning signals and was annihilated by the oncoming train. What no one realized until much later was that the driver had paused just before entering the tracks and kicked a small boy out of the car. A small boy with broken glasses who is clutching a notebook with all his might...but who never speaks.

Great storyline!
Revisado: 04-22-21
I loved this book! It was so hard to stop listening. The story was intriguing with many twists and turns. The narrator's did a great job as well. This is my second story by Minka Kent and I can't wait to get more as I've thoroughly enjoyed them both.

Love this series!
Revisado: 01-27-21
I absolutely loved this book! The characters I fall in love with & I laugh & cry as I listen. I also love the biblical practices & I've learned things that I've put in place in my own life. The story line leaves me wanting more, and I literally cried out "no!" when the book ended. I truly care about these characters as crazy as it sounds. I cannot wait for the final book! I also love that some of it takes place in Michigan as it's where I'm from & live today. I think the narrator does a fantastic job as well. Very highly recommend this listen! I can't wait to check out more of Sharon's books. THANK YOU!!

Historia
Banished is an eye-opening, deeply personal account of life inside the cult known as the Westboro Baptist Church, as well as a fascinating story of adaptation and perseverance. Since no organized religion will claim affiliation with the WBC, it's perhaps more accurate to think of them as a cult. Lauren Drain was thrust into that cult at the age of 15, and then spat back out again seven years later. Banished is the story of Lauren's fight to find herself amidst dramatic changes in a world of extremists and a life in exile.

I absolutely loved this book! It was an easy listen & I found myself looking for ways to listen. As a Christian, the story saddened me but it is a necessary message that I'm glad Lauren was willing to share. Lauren, my heart broke for you at times, but thank you for this! I definitely recommend this audio book.
