Historia
When Seckry was six years old, his father disappeared. The two of them had spent the afternoon picking berries together in the fields surrounding their village. In Seckry's vague memory, it had been perfect. But the following morning his father was gone, and had taken all traces of his existence with him. Dreams of that afternoon still plague Seckry's nights. Swimming in and out of his consciousness are images of his father's watch; one that was glowing an eerie green, and inscribed with foreign markings. What had his dad told him about that watch?

Historia
At the height of WWII, five idealistic young Americans receive a mysterious letter from the OSS, asking them if they are willing to fight for their country. The men and women from very different backgrounds - a Texan athlete with German roots, an upper-crust son of a French mother and a wealthy businessman, a dirt-poor Midwestern fly fisherman, an orphaned fashion designer, and a ravishingly beautiful female fencer - all answer the call of duty, but each for a secret reason of his or her own. They bond immediately, in a group code-named Dragonfly.

Simply Amazing!
Revisado: 08-29-22
I have listened to hundreds of books, with WWII being one of my favorite genres. This is by far one of the most unique and engrossing ones I have heard on the subject. I highly recommend this book in every way; from the author, to the narrators, to the story itself. I will be anxiously awaiting more books by this author set in WWII.

Hard to follow and disjointed
Revisado: 12-13-18
This book was very hard to follow and the character development was nearly nonexistent. It jumped around with not a lot of explanation as to who was talking or what was going on. I got to the end of the book with an unclear picture as to who the main character was. I also reached the end with no real attachment to the characters or desire to know what happens to them. I didn’t think it was very well written at all.

Historia
"Marley was dead to begin with...." These chillingly familiar words begin the classic Christmas tale of remorse and redemption in A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Now R. William Bennett rewinds the story and focuses the spotlight on Scrooge’s miserly business partner, Jacob T. Marley, who was allowed to return as a ghost to warn Scrooge away from his ill-fated path. Why was Marley allowed to return? And why hadn’t he been given the same chance as Ebenezer Scrooge? Or had he?

Could have been written by Dickens himself!
Revisado: 11-30-17
This is an incredible addition to “A Christmas Carol. Both of the stories combined make the classic tale so much more expansive and satisfying. I will never be able to read “A Christmas Carol “ again without interjecting the expanded story found in”Jacob T. Marley “. The style of writing for this book is so similar in style that it could have been written by Dickens himself!
Simon Vance is spot-on as usual and his voice creates the atmosphere that brings the listener right into a Dickens Christmas setting.
This will be a new Christmas favorite. Thank you R. William Bennett for bringing such an amazing story of love and redemption to us, and for telling us “the rest of the story!”

Reader Beware
Revisado: 05-06-17
I did not like this book at all. It drug on and on. The only reason I continued to listen was with the hope that There would be some kind of redeeming value or at least some kind of resolution. Then it it just ended with the main character in the same sinking situation with no hope for rescue. I guess it could be thought provoking but not enough to suffer through this book. Not to mention the horrible, unnecessary foul language and sexual content. You don't even come to like the main character that much. As the booked dragged on I came to find her shallow and selfish. I assume she is being brainwashed but she didn't put up much of a fight. I didn't think that it was that well written either.

Best series I've listened to in a long time!
Revisado: 01-17-17
I enjoy listening to YA fantasy and the Book of Beginnings Trilogy is one of the best series I've listened to in a long time. It kept my attention throughout, with a strong story line and excellent character development. As far as Jim Dale goes... what more is there to say. He is just simply the best narrator by far. The characters come alive under his expert guidance.
