My heart is finally being stitched up a little after book 1.

This gave me some much needed closure. The first book BROKE ME. I can now move on with my heart a little lighter. This follow up novella was not cheesy or forced. IMO it was lovely and fitting, and a good salve for the wounds left by Under Your Scars.

Whoa.

Do you ever stumble onto a book that you find by accident or convenience, something you haven’t seen posted all over the place, and by an author you may not have ever heard of…..and have it latch onto your heartstrings from the very first page? The very first paragraph???

Put it this way. I believe this is a nine hour listen on Audible. I started it at 3 am yesterday and I finished it before dinner time the same day. But do the math. And yes, I have kids. We’re currently on break this week so they’re rotting their brains on YouTube. So they essentially left me alone and ignored me while I cleaned today and crafted and cooked and even volunteered to drive someone somewhere so I could have a 15 minute uninterrupted car ride to listen in silence.

This is not a super happy story at the beginning. Quite frankly it is almost depressing (yes, tears were shed). However the energy definitely shifts at one point. The main characters are beautifully flawed and broken in so many ways. And I think in the sense of HOW they’re broken is what makes these characters so relatable. Valentine shook me with their descriptions of the character’s deep feelings and family dynamics, the love and the longing, the yearning and self doubt.

This story is a gay awakening, MM love story. More love story than smut, but the buildup is 🔥🔥🔥IMO. The buildup is what does it for me. The healing is what does it for me, and the seggs and the forking is just the icing on the cake. It gave me vibes of To Catch a Firefly. Swooney. Real soul crushing, light bulbs going off and just - ughhh! - All the feels!

Chefs kiss! I will definitely go looking for more of Valentine’s work!

Needed a shift in gears to get me out of a slump. I have never read any of the mafia dark romances. Picked this one out of the free titles, because let’s face it, I’m a sucker for Aidan Snow’s sultry voice.

I think you’ve created a monster.

Surprises, suspense, dark bosses crooning in Italian, and hot seggs kept me up until after 4 am. Book finished in less than 24 hours. And I work full time, have two young and busy kids. If this isn’t an indication to pick this up and avoid all adulting responsibilities, not sure what is.

I wish I could read this again for the first time.

This story captured my attention in the first 5 minutes. The character development is relatable. The whole time I was listening to this story I was on the edge of my seat thinking “what’s gonna happen? This is too good to be true…..” but all the while I was waiting for the other shoe to drop. And holy sh*t did it! I love the build up of their relationship, the family dynamics and the barriers these characters are facing in this über modern story sexual awakening. Spice is (for lack of a better word) WHOA! And it escalates VERY QUICKLY! I would totally subscribe to Backwards_cap and Not_your_baby without any shame! This story was such a sweet and pleasant (and naughty!) surprise! Don’t miss it!

Not what I expect! In a good way!

A great journey as seen by two broken people trying to find happiness despite their tragic pasts. A little predictable, but not cringy. Narration was great. And parts were laugh out loud funny. I mean, wake up my husband because I was laughing out loud in bed funny. A great balance between sweet, spicy and heartbreaking. Worth the listen! 💜

Oh, Teddy!

This book came absolutely ALIVE with the narration! Almost put me into cardiac arrest the story was so good! And Teddy? Good. God. That voice…..THAT VOICE. It haunts my soul! Read me anything, Teddy. The weather, stock reports, the TV Guide. That sultry voice makes this story so much better!
