Historia
For Ianthe, war is all too familiar. A former soldier in the Astra Militarum, she now serves Inquisitor Covenant as an agent of the Throne. Her first mission sees her investigating a cult called the Children of Eternity. Falling foul of the local Enforcers, Ianthe soon learns that war in the shadows is seldom straightforward and that the local, angry law-keepers are the least of her troubles.

It was a very engaging and action packed narrative from the very start. This book offered a fun glimpse into the crazy life of the inquisition and what they have to deal with.

Solid first experience with the Battle Sisters
Revisado: 12-29-24
Really good voice narration from both women, the screaming could sound a little awkward sometimes but overall, it was great. Their voices were very smooth and distinct. Both main characters were engaging and I liked exploring their mindsets and motivations. The depiction of chaos and how it was operating was super terrifying and immensely in-depth and graphic. Felt very engaging and really spoke to the sheer fortitude that these women had to go through just to reach their destination, off nothing but faith in the God-Emperor and his chosen. The plot twist later on in the story completely caught me off guard and definitely added to the intensity.

Book 3: How to build a mercenary company
Revisado: 12-09-24
Goodness gracious, 70% of this last(?) book was the main character building up her mercenary company and dealing with an ever growing zombie outbreak. The 2nd was a masterpiece but this one was just alright. Wish the relationship between the main character and her advisor was more friendly and less master-slave, since I really do like his character. Book kept hinting at these elite/powerful undead but the main character kills all of them at the same time with no effort at the end. Felt the half-hearted buildup of the elite undead didn’t amount to anything really. Also felt like simply too much of the book focused on fighting simple undead in the city. At one point the book said the mercenary company was getting bored of their patrols and I was like “Yeah, me too.”

Honestly a full blown upgrade over the first book!
Revisado: 11-29-24
I really enjoyed the first book but this sequel felt like tangible upgrade over the first in terms of action and combat! The upgrades felt very creative and were easily my favorite part of the book series (The reckoning part was super well done!) I think a hard part about game style books like these is making the character cool, strong, but still able to be challenged, yet Dean Henegar did it wonderfully! I really enjoyed the various characters getting introduced, which definitely led to the ending of this one being a bit bittersweet but a great point to start off on as I head into the 3rd book from this series.
The Peformance gets a 4/5 because my only gripe really is that wish Sabine, the main character, sounded a bit cooler. Which might not be a reasonable complaint. The verminkin, Skrix, Hamish the advisor, and Oren the scholar guy, as well as really any character in the book was distinct and I was never confused about who was talking. Which is really important in a audible so Tess is honestly a solid narrator and I was happy to see the voices were the same from the first book!

It wasn’t boring and decently engaging
Revisado: 08-24-24
Recommended book by a friend so I decided to check it out. I like the main characters, even if they were kind of stupid frustrating sometimes, but they were only 16 to 17 years old, so it makes sense. I thought the pace of the book was very well done. Nothing dragged on too long and I felt events were continually flowing. That’s something I can really appreciate after coming off of some really slow books. That said, I thought the story so far was just okay, not incredibly interesting but enough to not feel dry. For a prequel book, I think that’s good enough I suppose.

Honestly had no idea this was a Genre, thought Solo Leveling (the manwha) was just a one off thing but to see a whole book with a similar concept was very awesome. This undead revenant class was super awesome and I really enjoyed learning more about it. I thought the narration could be a bit better but overall it didn't detract from the story.

3rd book felt meaningless
Revisado: 03-10-24
First two were good, enjoyed the story and sound effects, mech introductions. The third book was just nonstop fighting for the most part that you have no real reason to care about. I’m sure it matters if you move on to the next 3 books, but it was kinda boring overall so I won’t be doing that

That character that was enslaved for 4 books? You’ll never guess what happens next….
Revisado: 02-05-24
It started off cool and interesting, the main villain seemed VERY cool and mysterious, dark but intelligent. All that goes away by the end of the book and she’s just some mean woman who says “Kneel” as often as Jon snow says “I don’t know”.
Murtagh and Thorn are separated nonstop throughout the book and terrible stuff happens literally everytime.
Murtagh is just crazy weak, I’m unsure if he’d be able to beat Roran till the end of the book. If the ancient language cheat code didn’t work, this man was damn near helpless.
The highlight of the book was experiencing more of Thorn and seeing my boy overcome struggles I had no idea he was going through. Tons of depth to his character. The book was worth it solely for him and the early introductions of the main villain.
Easily the weakest of the entry, I think this author has lost his touch.
