A decent delve into young horror
Revisado: 09-25-23
As good as the actual story was there wasn't really anything that scared me. I mean this would make a good b-rate kids horror film for sure, but the literal scary parts were written so bad I felt like I was literally shrugging my shoulders at them. Parts that should have been gruesome were just "Well that is happening." If you're going to describe a scene describe it don't just say it's happening or happened. There were some parts that it went into more detail with or that were decent, but a lot were nothing special. Worth a listen but don't have high expectations.

Under 30,000 feet of water, the experimental exploration rig Leaguer has discovered an oil field larger than Saudi Arabia, with oil so sweet and pure, nations would go to war for the rights to it. But as the team starts drilling exploration well after exploration well in their race to claim the sweet crude, a deep rumbling beneath the ocean floor shakes them all to their core. Something has been living in the oil and it's about to give birth to the greatest threat humanity has ever seen.

It is a well paced story with an interesting setup. kind of your basic b-rate film fest kind of adventure in a good way. Felt like the blob meets the thing in watery setting.

A Gun Slinging Good Time
Revisado: 01-30-23
I was skeptical starting this series as it isn't what I think of when I see this title. I was surprised to be hooked as hard as I was and can't wait to continue this series.
I like the mix of mythical critters and how they were implemented. The big bads running the show were what I expected to be honest, but their use of people/monsters was well done.

Half Breed in Prison
Revisado: 01-24-23
An interesting tale that has some rather good depth. It is interesting to see a story from the character who falls glory and is captured. I just wish there was more depth into the character and more delve into what he is. I did enjoy the twists and turns thrown my way especially towards the end.
Sadly, the book ends in cliffhanger. Not something I enjoy a lot of the time but this one sat with me alright. I just didn't want this to end where it has as it was a captivating story one of which I rewound multiple times to make sure I heard and got everything. I do hope that maybe sometime this story picks up someday.

Intriguing but...
Revisado: 11-04-22
It was an interesting tale, and the narration was rather nice/interesting but there were parts especially concerning the creatures that kept just making me want to shrug. I didn't ever really feel like you get a full grasp of what is going on or what the heck the creatures are if at all. I mean it has some potential and I was able to finish it but everything you find out feels useless to know and doesn't matter within seconds.

Historia
Book Three in Herbert’s classic ‘rats’ series. The final countdown. The long-dreaded nuclear conflict. The city torn apart, shattered, its people destroyed or mutilated beyond hope. For just a few, survival is possible only beneath the wrecked streets - if there is time to avoid the slow-descending poisonous ashes. But below, the rats, demonic offspring of irradiated forebears, are waiting. They know that Man is weakened, become frail. Man has become their prey.

When Fall Out Has Teeth
Revisado: 10-28-22
An amazingly gripping part of the story that kept me listening. From the human to human struggles to survive are so good and the suspense of who is going next or when will the rodents strike I just found myself hooked even though I figured there might have been an exteme evolution this time. I was not let down.

Historia
Book Two in Herbert’s classic ‘rats’ series. They've waited long enough. The mutant white rats had grown and mated, creating offspring in its own image. They dominated the others, the dark-furred ones, who foraged for food and brought it back to the lair. Now the dark rats were restless, tormented by a craving they could not satisfy. But the white sluglike thing that ruled them knew. Its two heads weaved to and fro and a stickiness drooled from its mouth as it remembered the taste of human flesh.

Taking it up a Notch
Revisado: 10-11-22
This story picks up not long after book one and it just picks just goes with it in a good way. The author took a minor detail or two and evolved his critters with it turning them into more of a menace and in an area that made it honestly more frightening. The way things happen in this book is fantastic with a few characters I personally didn't care for but that's to be expected here and there.
Like the first book this one was far from a disappointment. Another book of man vs beast where nothing is held back, and everyone is fair game for the critters. This book only amplifies the horror the little beasties. Like I said in the review for the first book I went straight from this book into book three.

Historia
Life on Shelnora Island seemed to be perfect for me. A tropical paradise, great food, and beautiful women at the local sorority . . . until I crossed paths with a mysterious murder and sightings of an honest-to-God werewolf! Now I'm surrounded by three beautiful women, all drawn into the mystery, and it turns out that my new dog is a smoking hot shapeshifter. Life's gotten crazy, but maybe, if we all work together, we'll find out who the real killer is. Could it be the curmudgeonly divemaster with a grudge? The sleazy resort owner drumming up sensationalism for tourist bucks?

A Great Surprise
Revisado: 10-11-22
This story is exactly what you think it is with a rather refreshing take on the cast. There is a lot of story here as well which is to say that where as there are adult scenes there are less of them then the actual story. Just a note worth making in my opinion as I have seen some complaints on books about that. The story is rather nice and goes about how one in this spoof genre would go but is not a letdown at all.
This book had me smiling from the start and only kept me that way through the whole things with a few "figures" moments in it. I do recommend picking this book up for sure and I will be working through books two and three soon enough. The one thing I did wish for which a personal thing was more get to know the characters and cast moments. Yes, you get the idea of who they are inspired by but I still wanted a more author personalized touch on it.

Food of the Gods Vibe
Revisado: 10-11-22
This book had me enthralled from start to finish and some rather interesting cast of characters. The fact that the rats aren't just giant monster, but more overgrown animals is a nice touch even with the basis of how they came about. The reason they do what they do in away is also interesting. Heck this is a story that does not hold back which I enjoyed as much as the setting it was thrown into and the way the narrator brought it to life.
This is a creature feature worth owning especially if your more into the animal vs mankind genre. I went from this book straight through the next and right into the third before taking a break. Trust me it is a rather riveting adventure indeed. More than I bargained for when I picked it up myself.

Historia
When a yacht being used to smuggle drugs sinks, the six smugglers must seek refuge the only place they can - an abandoned oil rig in the middle of the sea. But there's something strange about this oil rig. For one thing, it looks more like a scientific research facility. And for another, there are no people - only piles of clothes with no bodies in them. It soon becomes clear that something is loose on the rig. Something deadly. It's stalking them, one by one, but it's not just a horrible death they have to fear - it's what comes after.

Interesting Creature but...
Revisado: 10-03-22
This story is rather dull and you are stuck dealing with a bunch of unlikable characters including a sexual abuser/rapist who ends up effecting the creature.
Honestly not my cup of tea even of the creature was gold the rest of the story was killed by the secual predator of a character and somehow smart sounding yet stupid cast.
