Historia
Psychologist Margot Scott has a picture-perfect life: a nice house in the suburbs, a husband, two children and a successful career. On a warm spring morning Margot approaches one of her clients on a busy train platform. He is looking down at his phone, with his duffel bag in hand as the train approaches. That’s when she slams into his back and he falls in front of the train. Margot’s clients all lie to her, but one lie cost her family and freedom.

Plot holes abound

Glad this one was free. The police would NEVER have responded this way. A psychologist’s home and office is burned in an arson attack - the first place to look is her patients. But they tell her to chill. Not plausible.

Historia
Set in the London of the 1660s and of the early 21st century, The Weight of Ink is the interwoven tale of two women of remarkable intellect: Ester Velasquez, an emigrant from Amsterdam who is permitted to scribe for a blind rabbi, just before the plague hits the city, and Helen Watt, an ailing historian with a love of Jewish history. As the novel opens, Helen has been summoned by a former student to view a cache of 17th-century Jewish documents newly discovered in his home during a renovation.

Complex
Revisado: 04-09-20
It maybe sacrilege here but this book would have been better read the old fashioned way. It’s a long, complex tale and the transition between the centuries was often hard to recognize while listening. I found myself is the 17th century while listening to the 20th century characters. Excellent tale.

Disappointing
Revisado: 02-04-20
This one did not hold up well. Way too much of Vix whining about Sabina and not growing up. Plus our villian, Plutuna, was more annoying than evil. Will be a while before I venture into another one of these.

Historia
Elegant and ambitious, Cornelia embodies the essence of the perfect Roman wife. She lives to one day see her loyal husband as Emperor. Her sister Marcella is more aloof, content to witness history rather than make it. But when a bloody coup turns their world upside-down, both women must maneuver carefully just to stay alive.

Not sure why I am fond of this series by Ms Quinn but they suck me in and I keep listening to them. Likely it’s because The Alice Network and The Huntress we’re so astoundingly amazing.

Historia
Can a young war correspondent find herself and follow her heart? In this work of historical fiction, 20-something Annabella “Annie” March arrives in France in 1944 intending to write about the war. Soon, however, Annie begins to distance herself from her sometimes-mentor, sometimes-rival - the great Martha Gellhorn - and Gellhorn’s larger-than-life husband, the novelist Ernest Hemingway. She turns to photography in the hopes of making her own name and, to her delight, discovers that images come more easily than words.

Historical interest
Revisado: 01-20-20
Impressed with the authors breadth of historical knowledge. While the story line is common the interweaving of events, history, quotes, etc. made this book worth listening.

Historia
Did you know that most of our dinosaur fossils were discovered because two grown men absolutely hated each other? It’s true! Rivals! Frenemies Who Changed the World is a riotous audio exclusive, like if Monty Python taught your history class. Each volume of four 30-minute histories will dig into the petty name-calling and grumbling grudges that led to many of the world’s greatest advancements, all delivered with a cheeky sense of humor. Choose sides: Cope or Marsh, the jerks who discovered so many dinosaurs; Hamilton or Burr, whose rivalry fueled American politics; and many more....

History for 14-year old boys!
Revisado: 08-16-19
If you find the excessive use of the word “booger” humorous then this book is for you. Also if you don’t know the definition of “illegitimate” then this book might be for you. Disappointing as the concept and story were excellent.
