I definitely don't think it's the worst. It could use a bit of improvement though 🤏🏾.

honestly I actually enjoyed the majority of the story. however there were certain parts that I was a little disappointed with. like for example how little more is known about the Votaan and how the Kyn culture is laid out almost too formulaically except for situations like the character Ironhelm being warrior post suicidal while on the other side the character Lehki was a stick in the mud bureaucrat who should've lost a leg or something in the long run for his bullheaded bravado trying to use the Guild to get petty revenge on Myrton. I'm not saying it's bad, but I was hoping to get more incite into the Kyndred. And for them to both acknowledge and seem almost forgetful, if not almost disgusted, that they share a common ancestry with the rest of humanity. Not on the same level as the Imperium but still. I think it was smart to use. Rogue Trader captain and ship in the beginning though. To which I also have a feeling this is taking place in M41 when it should likely have been set earlier around like the earlier or mid M40s, not when the Eye of Terror expanded into the Great Rift which is the subtle implication I'm getting. Because any other time I'm pretty sure the Imperium would try to destroy the Kyn, not aid them. Especially where the Mechanicus is involved, since they'd likely covet the Kyn's technology, even the AI - Ironkyn, to some degree if only to have someto torture that's All machine and not just a Little fleshy like they are (like a brain in the jar). Lol

I wouldn't exactly give the story a 10 out of 10. But it's still not overall bad. Just more mid-range if I had to call it anything so far. And I'll keep listening for the next ones to come after with anticipation 😄.

I loved this story after I first got on Audible. Don't get me wrong it's not some Great novel of our time or something. However I thoroughly enjoyed the protagonist's journey and experiences. I have a whole list of issues or differences in opinion. But my only one would maybe be that I wish Primal Imperative was 4 books instead of 3. The same goes for Stone Age Hero having only 2 books instead of 3. Especially since the audiobooks on them are also done Amazingly from the narration teams. So I look forward to the next one produced and self published, if there are anymore of a similar variety by Mr Kilgore.

The fact that despite being impressed Cassia underestimated Frost

Cassia was surprised and charmed by Frost while believing herself superior because of her level and years of experience. But he already caught on that she wasn't just some wandering priestess. And despite being madly attracted to her, he wasn't unable to discern how she exposed and evaded things when he watched her or spoke to her. If he wasn't a nearly incorrigible sex fiend, he probably would've told Cassia aka Cala to stay behind unless she wanted to see Lysandra. Which would've been a bluff, but seeing her almost childlike bipolar state of being Cassia might've gone for it. Or at least it would've been more so if she didn't have those 3 young Elf women as her little cheerleading group. It's one of those annoying times that in books/works of fiction where a character suddenly loses a bit of tact and/or attention in order for plot events to happen and move the narrative. Especially if Frost was as much of an impulsive Fool that Cassia, Princess Fiora and her mother the Queen and Councilwoman thought he was (or more likely pretended to think he was) he would've jumped in after she started Paralyzing the elves trying to attack the prophetess. And never even needing to say the spell or hardly look in their direction to do it. Even noticing that she was maintaining it while still hugging her daughter or crying in Lishary's arms. I love how he recognized that dread feeling of someone being weaker than the power of someone else stronger was when in front of them and likely a bit unhinged which could only be called a Monster.

I loved everything about this and wish I got the full omnibus before now. BUT I'm happy overall, if anything I was kind of hoping to see more stuff happening with the Moms and the Daughters. Yet even the bits that were there were great. Beyond that I was Very happy about how John was with his ladies but more so with his grandfather as always, his bro time with Jekylls that I admittedly looked forard to, and most of all seeing his father at his wedding. I damn near teared up at how they received each other 🥹. I'm also happy he finally got even with Prof. Hollowskull 😈. And in the end the man had it all, with more to come in the horizon. A great “Happy Ending” 😏 overall 😁👍🏾. (Low-key I don't know how to feel about the cousins thing. But I think we all have some of those feelings so it wasn't too crazy or creepy. Plus it's not like he'd do anything with those cousins outside of that “anything goes” void space 😅😖😂.

Room for improvement but I enjoyed it a lot from the connection building and banter between Ryan and Zera

I actually really enjoyed the banter and conversation s between Ryan and Zera. However I wasn't expecting this to be a slow burn Harem fantasy. And I'm hoping the MC gets maybe 2 girls in the next book when it drops.

The fact that Cain, as usual is more of an ironic hero than he thinks he is

The only thing I might dislike about the series as a whole is the fact that Jurgen gets so little credit except from people that know Cain personally. Also that Cain doesn't carry a tertiary weapon or gets an honorary title rank like Commander Commissar or Major Colonel Commissar after his many years of service.

I was kind of hoping the intimacy wouldn't be more teasing than actually an active occurrence. Having said that I did like the overall story and the characters featured. I hope the next book also keeps me as entertained 😁

After my prior comment about nearly genociding ppl - Cayde's lack of descriptions

Revisado: 04-13-24

Cayde's character describes almost everyone he meets to some degree except certain men, really mostly women. And people recognize that he's human. But he's scantly or to my knowledge not at all mentioned features of other humans that he's encountered. While I find it refreshing that it's reminded to the readers/listeners that he's a tall black man with dark skin, outside of the other races of the series there hasn't been a lot of that for the difference humans he's probably bumped into. Like that mercenary slaver mage boy from Book 1, no info on him. The Lizard Man that Cayde captured and the Werewolf Earth mage he fought got more details. And while I think his Toni was also a Black, there was only references to his newer wives mostly being a pale skinned or furred wives with no general description of her skin under the fur except maybe her nipples and labia.

These aren't exactly complaints but rather observations I've made on my 2nd time listening to this. Which I still love/enjoy a lot 🤷🏾‍♂️😂.
