I'm glad this was free
Revisado: 10-09-24
Somewhat helpful. Not really worth it, though. Luckily, with Audible Plus, it was free. I certainly would not have paid real money for this audiobook.
Complaints? It started with about 2 1/2 minutes of disclaimers, warnings and copyright information. Given how short this audiobook was, that was around 14% of the book.
The author used the acronym SEO without defining it first. He did that later. It stands for Search Engine Optimization.
I didn't check all of the links given, but the first link was dead. I went to the website anyway and did a search on the topic "color" and found the article mentioned, though. I was surprised that Virtual Voice (the artificial voice/reader) read the URLs reasonably well.
Out of the list of mistakes mentioned, I found only 2 actually useful to me... that is, keeping the image sizes on the web page under 75k and to provide contact information so that one would not be mistaken for a spammer or something.
I found Virtual Voice to give reasonable narration for an artificial voice in this instance.

Okay for what it is
Revisado: 10-09-24
If you are new to marketing web content, this is a good outline of what one needs to think about. However, these are only ideas... not actual helpful tools.
DEAD URL: There was mention of a link to the WordPress Editorial Calendar Plugin. It seemed like a helpful tool. Unfortunately, Virtual Voice flubbed the reading. However, after "rewinding" several times I was able to hear the URL. The link was dead as of this writing (October 2024). Nevertheless, I did a quick search on the Internet and found the plugin at the WordPress web site. It's free.
This was my first experience with Virtual Voice. It wasn't horrible. I am somewhat visually handicapped, so I am used to listening to artificial voices to take in information. It takes time to tune one's ear to them. Virtual Voice was easier than most.

This is the original study guide to the Big Book, Alcoholics Anonymous. Filled with practical information for those first days of sober living, this little book offers newcomers advice about the program, how long it takes, and what to look for in a sponsor; provides in-depth discussions of each of the Twelve Steps and related character defects; poses common questions about AA and helping others, identifying where to find answers in the Big Book; and, features non-sexist language.

NOT Official AA Literature. Still Good.
Revisado: 02-06-23
I love the Little Red Book. The text has been modified from its original, but it is still good. I haven't compared the audiobook version to the hardback version that I own. Maybe I should. I know that when the rights to the original book were sold to Hazelden the text was modified to remove some of the more strident claims made by the author. That was probably a good idea.
The author is Ed Webster... NOT Alcoholics Anonymous. Alcoholics Anonymous had nothing to do with its publication other than being endorsed by Dr. Bob (co-founder of AA).
This book "features non-sexist language." This is amazingly true despite the fact that it was written in the 1940s. There are places here and there where sexist language exists but skimming through the hardback book that I own, the author was careful as possible to speak only of "members of AA" or "we" or "they". NOTE: There is a version of the Little Red Book directed toward women, "The Little Red Book for Women" which you can find at Amazon.
I hope I didn't seem too critical. I like the book. I'm glad I bought it. I listened to it. I will probably listen to it again.

Historia
Andrea Vernon always thought she would spend her life living in Paris writing thought-provoking historical novels all day and sipping wine on the Seine all night. But the reality is she's drowning in debt, has no prospects, and is forced to move back to Queens, where her parents remind her daily that they are very interested in grandchildren. Then, one morning, she is kidnapped, interviewed, and hired as an administrative assistant by the Corporation for UltraHuman Protection. Superheroes for hire, using their powers for good. What could possibly go wrong?

A Normal Life in an Abnormal World
- De Arthur D. Rich en 08-26-17
Definitely NOT for Kids
Revisado: 05-21-20
This review will appear to be largely negative, but I congratulate the author for producing such a clever book. It made me laugh.
However, I would have rated this audiobook at least a star higher if it hadn't given the impression that it was somehow a kid's audiobook. In fact, it was a satire for adults or perhaps teens over 16. When the story suggested hookers and drug abuse amongst the superheroes I was disappointed. (I was NOT shocked. I work with drunks, hookers and drug abusers.) This book would make sense for children only if said children were already living in a neighborhood where hookers and drug dealers abounded, Otherwise, said children will be asking some very awkward questions of their parents.
FYI, while writing this review I saw another reviewer refer to this audiobook as similar to South Park. I agree. It was cartoonish and clever, but it's audience was definitely young adults and old cynics. (Hey! I'm not a cynic!... Shut up, and quit talking to yourself! :-))
For those listeners practicing modesty, this book was definitely not modest although I do not recall any vulgar language. Andrea, the main character, was humping the crap out of one of the superheroes (without benefit of marriage). There was also a scene where masturbation was discussed with some vigor although it was not described in detail. LGBT+ was treated as the norm (meaning that it appeared in the story, but it was not promoted. It was simply treated as a normal part of the story).
While any of these situations might appear on television every single night, I felt compelled to mention them to parents who might be wondering if this book was appropriate for children.
Otherwise, the narration was good and the story line was filled with clever and funny adult satire. I can see why a sequel was forthcoming and is now available.

Good short story made too long
Revisado: 01-27-19
I found the beginning confusing and difficult because the science didn't make much sense. And I was right. There was a good reason for the odd science that was explained later in the book. Until then, I was always waiting for the explanation... and waiting... and waiting. I'm not sure how the author could have fixed this problem other than to make this book into a short story.
Any modesty issues? The F-word was used twice and it didn't add to the story, so I wonder why it was there in the first place.
The book has a good ending, but I wanted more at the end. Instead, it just stopped like a short story would.
Although the writing for Containment is good, it is structured so strangely that I cannot recommend it. If the sequel, Equinox, had fixed up the original problems, I might have recommend them as a bundle, but I am over halfway through Equinox and it's not looking good.

It is a story mostly for kids, but I enjoyed it as well. No curse words. Some of it is a little gross, but in a way that kids will appreciate. I'll listen to it again.

Surprised and Delighted
Revisado: 03-22-13
What did you love best about The Wonderful Wizard of Oz?
Of course, I know the movie and I remember reading these books as a child, so I was already favorable disposed to the Wizard of Oz but I was delighted with the audio performance from Anne Hathaway. I am new to Audible and this audio book made a good impression on me. Thank you.
Would you be willing to try another book from L. Frank Baum? Why or why not?
Yes but that comes from my having read the books as a child. I suppose it depends on the artist who narrates.
