Historia
Linda Lear offers the astonishing portrait of an extraordinary woman who gave us some of the most beloved children's books of all time. Beatrix Potter found freedom from her conventional Victorian upbringing in the countryside. Nature inspired her imagination as an artist and scientific illustrator, but "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" brought her fame, financial success, and the promise of happiness when she fell in love with her editor, Norman Warne. After his tragic and untimely death, Potter embraced a new life as the owner of Hill Top Farm in the English Lake District.

Fascinating text and excellent narrator
Revisado: 10-24-24
For fans of Beatrix Potter, this book is a gem. It brings to light this remarkable woman's life, from childhood to old age. It emphasizes her skills as a scientific illustrator at a time when women were excluded from artistic and scientific training, and emphasizes her preeminent role in the creation of the National Trust Lands of Britain. Excellent narrator.

Historia
Mildred Lathbury is a clergyman's daughter and a mild-mannered spinster in 1950s England. She is one of those excellent women - the smart, supportive, repressed women whom men take for granted. As Mildred gets embroiled in the lives of her new neighbors - anthropologist Helena Napier; Helen's handsome, dashing husband, Rocky; and Julian Malory, the vicar next door - the novel presents a series of snapshots of human life as actually, and pluckily, lived.

Best narrator of Barbara Pym
Revisado: 01-24-21
Ms. Entwistle's interpretation of Barbara Pym's Booker Prize winning book captures the humor, the introspection and the nuances of a single woman's everyday life in the post war parochial world in England as no other narrator does. If only Ms. Enwistle could interpret other B. Pym books, I would not keep listening to this one over and over. Thank you for this brilliant character interpretation. It is a source of joy to me.
