Historia
Young people have the power to affect sweeping change, and the key to mending the racial divide in America lies in giving them the tools to ask honest questions and take in the difficult answers. Approaching every awkward, taboo, and uncomfortable question with openness and patience, Emmanuel Acho connects his own experience with race and racism - from attending majority-white prep schools to his time in the NFL playing on majority-black football teams - to insightful lessons in black history and black culture.

There’s a very good chance you don’t know what I’m talking about when I use the word Misophonia. There’s also a very good chance that if you do know what Misophonia is, you’re probably dealing with it on a day-to-day basis. Some of you might have spent your entire life in a constant fight or flight stance, raging against loud chewers, pen clickers, heavy breathers, and other annoying sounds. Well, you’re hardly alone.

At least I'm not as bad off as the author.
Revisado: 06-21-24
My misophonia must be minor compaired to yhe aurthors. certain sounds under stressful conditions will send me into an unreasonable fury, but the author comes across as troubled by most sounds and settings. I don't think this will help me explain anything to people not experiencing misophonia.
The decision to record an audio book about misophonia with virtual narration is a incredibly poor one.

Historia
A report on how the greed of a privileged few, subsidized by public funding, creates substantial profits for themselves from mass human suffering. This was a speech given by General Butler during a nationwide tour in the early 1930's, but it applies even more today! Listen as he frankly discusses, from his experience as a career military officer, how business interests commercially benefit from warfare. He then suggests several practical solutions for reducing the pillage.

undoubted truth of war and those who make it.
Revisado: 02-18-23
Who better to tell us the truth about war than a Comandant of the Marine Corps and celebrated combat veteran. No milk toast pacifast, Butler's contempt for war profiteers is palpable.
Substance and content aside, the performance is dreadful. The narrator would be better suited to read H.P. Lovecraft, over-emphasis sounds like a raving coot.

Historia
Set in Italy during World War II, this is the story of the incomparable, malingering bombardier Yossarian, a hero who is furious because thousands of people he has never met are trying to kill him. But his real problem is not the enemy - it is his own army, which keeps increasing the number of missions the men must fly to complete their service. Yet if Yossarian makes any attempt to excuse himself from the perilous missions he's assigned, he'll be in violation of Catch-22.

excellent, absurd and comically tragic.
Revisado: 09-27-22
The only thing more absurd than this fiction is the reality of its subject matter. Like Douglas Adams and Kurt Vonnegut had a beautiful car accident resulting in an audio book, followed by a novel.

Historia
Welcome to the summer of 1985 in Philadelphia, when the city was rocked—in almost every sense of the word—by two unprecedented events: Mayor W. Wilson Goode’s May 13 decision to bomb the headquarters of MOVE, a controversial Philadelphia-based radical communal organization, and the July 13 Live Aid concert, where international rock royalty convened in Philly to raise money for victims of the Ethiopian famine. Separated by just two months and eight miles, these events would showcase both the best and the worst of the so-called City of Brotherly Love.

excellent
Revisado: 08-15-22
I've known about the MOVE bombing for a few years but this gives the most even accounting of it that I've seen so far. MOVE not being the sole focus of the story really adds context. Kevin Hart naturally does a nice job narrating but please don't think it's going to be funny because Hart is reading, it's not that type of program. I did not know how Farm Aid, Live Aid and BandAid were connected, all of that was interesting and really illustrated the tone of the time.

Historia
In this, the first broad historical overview of labor in the United States in 20 years, Philip Nicholson examines anew the questions, the villains, the heroes, and the issues of work in America. Unlike recent books that have covered labor in the 20th century, Labor's Story in the United States looks at the broad landscape of labor since before the Revolution. Throughout, the audiobook focuses on the integral relationship between the strength of labor and the growth of democracy, painting a vivid picture of the strength of labor movements.
