Well done but disliked the 21st century insertions.

I enjoyed the dramatisation but some of sound was recorded in such a way as to make it hard to hear. Also, I suspect Dickens would not approve of the homosexual undertones given to Steerforth and David Copperfield’s relationship. He did not put it there. I did not realise that the dramatisation of a book meant you were free to change it.

Sad, gripping, and as usual, well told

Jacqueline Winspear’s unique ability to weave a thrilling tale into the facts of history is showcased here. It leaves you sad about the fact that, in war, no one really wins but uplifted that true victory lies in knowing and doing what’s right.

Slightly annoying narrator made Ruth sound only a little older than Shirley Temple in her heyday but the story was good and worth listening to.
