Historia
Escaping the war was easy until they killed his friend. Now war is all they'll know. When Frank Sherman was one month into college, the Twin Towers fell. He joined the Army the next day. That was fifteen years ago. He never left the war. After a brutal and bloody mess in Eastern Europe, they give him leave to visit his only genuine friend in Northern California. Sherman arrives in the small backwater town to find an empty house and a sinking sense of despair. What began as an escape from the violence and blood quickly spirals back to the war. The narration was better than i expected.
Revisado: 03-17-25
This is a genre I enjoy. The narration needs a little work...IEDs were not pronounced correctly, but the AI did a better job than the last narrator I listened to. The story was similar to that of a Jack Reacher novel.

Historia
Sori. Western military generals shudder when they hear the name. It is a remote, inaccessible village in Afghanistan, high up in the Hindu Kush mountains. It is where a dreaded Taliban terrorist hides and from where he conducts his murderous raids. Villagers have a special name for the mountain on which Sori is perched. Mountain of Death. Sori is also where the Taliban hold three American soldiers captive. All attempts to free them have failed. As the terrorists threaten to execute the soldiers, Zeb Carter volunteers to mount a rescue attempt. Alone.

Wrong genre for this narrator.
Revisado: 03-15-25
This genre is one of my favorites. The story is the first in the series and some allowances for that need to be made. That said, the narrator is who you hear and their ability to tell the story can be a big difference in hating, tolerating and enjoying a story. In this case, I thought I was listening to some sort of fantasy story, such as Lord of the Rings. It may have been more enjoyable with a narrator whose voice was less musical. I tolerated it, but would not have wanted to listen much longer.

The narration needs work.
Revisado: 01-19-25
The virtual narration was lacking. It lacked the emotion human narrators can add to a story. But, the story seemed repetitive as well. Unfortunately, I am not good at putting my observations into words. It is a genre I like, but a story that I would not be interested in hearing again.

Historia
Ex-CIA master assassin Court Gentry has always prided himself on his ability to disappear at will, to fly below the radar and exist in the shadows - to survive as the near-mythical Gray Man. But when he takes revenge upon a former employer who betrayed him, he exposes himself to something he’s never had to face before. A killer who is just like him. Code-named Dead Eye, Russell Whitlock is a graduate of the same ultra-secret Autonomous Asset Program that trained and once controlled Gentry.

Enjoyable.
Revisado: 08-09-22
The story is good, but there seems to be some inconsistencies in the Gray Man. He makes errors that suggest he should not have survived as long as he has. Seems that his skills are weakening as the stories go on.
