Historia
On an island lives a boy called Peter and his band of merry lost boys, young forever. That is unless they get sick or killed by pirates or eaten by crocodiles or unless - inexplicably - they grow old. For some of them do grow old, and nobody knows why. One of these boys is called Jamie, and he was the first boy that Peter ever brought to the island. Jamie's lived there for longer than he can remember, and it's not all fun and games.

pretty fun but nothing mind-blowing
Revisado: 05-02-19
There's a strong romantic sub-plot which I don't care for in my mysteries but that's personal taste. The mystery itself was an enjoyable ride, if a little easy to figure out. the main character seems a bit dense at times and then at other times is a regular Sherlock so that's a bit inconsistent. I enjoyed the narrator's skill with accents and effective inflection in her voice acting.

fun to hear the "real story"
Revisado: 06-10-18
It was certainly different from the classic movie and pretty good but despite liking A. Hathaway in other things she was not very good at this except the narration and a couple of the many voices. she even mixed up some voices a couple of times. Her part was meh.

Historia
Set in the pre-Christian world of Glome on the outskirts of Greek civilization, it is a tale of two princesses: the beautiful Psyche, who is loved by the god of love himself, and Orual, Psyche's unattractive and embittered older sister, who loves Psyche with a destructive possessiveness. Her frustration and jealousy over Psyche's fate sets Orual on the troubled path of self-discovery. Lewis's last work of fiction, this is often considered his best by critics.

Revisado: 06-03-18
I grew up on The Chronicles of Narnia and so already knew I would come in loving the author. I only give the story 4 stars because I can see what CSL was going for in the feminism category and may have been revelatory in his time but are relatively outdated now. I may have my judgment skewed because this was recommended to me as a feminist text and it fell a little short of the mark on that. perhaps if one was not looking for that it would have been. I did find the main character to be somewhat unlikable but not wholly without Merit. I rated the performance only four stars because the reader seem to only have about four voices that she could really do and the rest were basically the same voice is over. All that being said, I enjoyed the book and it is a good use of your leisure time

Historia
A classic fable from Rudyard Kipling's Just So Stories, read by Johnny Morris. Have you ever wondered how and why the animals came to be as they are? In these magical tales, drawn from stories he heard as a child in India as well as on folk traditions he later collected all over the world, Rudyard Kipling gives some wonderfully imaginative explanations.

A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn't interested (and he'd like a bit more control over his vodka consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash.

so enjoyable!
Revisado: 02-12-18
Quirky and side-ways humor make this adventure of a 100-year-old man through history a delight! I laughed out loud so many times. I love the main character's habit of positive thinking and his steadfast aversion to strong political opinions. His MO for getting out of trouble seems to be simply deciding to move on to the next thing. Alan's casual indifference and sunniness lead him into the most improbable of situations. I loved this!

Revisado: 02-04-18
it seems like this could have been good at some point of further development. I don't know... the characters were off. The villain was too flatly evil with no real depth or reason or believability. The female lead was weirdly bipolar. I think it was meant to be a "round character" but it came accoss as the same character with 2 personalities that swapped back and forth. The lead male seemed like a totally irredeemable jerk and then suddenly one big tragedy happens and he just turns around literally overnight. Trigger warnings!!! Sexual assault, attempted rape, child prostitution. Spoilers ahead: at the end several animals are killed for no reason at all. I understand when characters or animals have to die to further plot, make a point, complete an arc, etc. but these just seem like they were there to make the readers sad. I get North's death because it symbolized the death of the untamed natural New York area but beyond that they were unnecessary and frustrating. The narrators did a fairly good job, although sometimes the multiple characters had suspiciously similar voices. The production quality is why this doesn't have a lower rating.

Historia
A middle-aged man returns to his childhood home to attend a funeral. He is drawn to the farm at the end of the road, where, when he was seven, he encountered a most remarkable girl, Lettie Hempstock. Forty years earlier, a man committed suicide in a stolen car at this farm at the end of the road. Like a fuse on a firework, his death lit a touchpaper and resonated in unimaginable ways. The darkness was unleashed, something scary and thoroughly incomprehensible to a little boy. And Lettie - magical, comforting, wise beyond her years - promised to protect him, no matter what.

fantastical, magical
Revisado: 01-08-18
I loved the all- encompassing magical feeling of this book. It somehow simultaneously feels like a children's fantasy, a dark fantasy, and an ancient myth. Gaiman, of course, was fantastic in his narration.
